My gradmother passed away and she kept all the obes she came across, just over $100 worth.

Will these ever have any numismatic value over 25 cents? Or should i just cash them in?

Cash them in at the bank

Bury them in your back yard. They will be worth a bunch in about 1,000,000 years when someone digs them up!

I doubt it.  I keep all the ones I find though.

To collectors in 100 years...maybe.

Would that offset the costs involved in keeping them...maybe not.

I figure post silver coins will only be worth face value.

"An astounding total of 1.7 billion bicentennial quarters were released into circulation..."

That's a lot of supply to meet any demand.

they're worth only face unless some one broke up a 40% silver uncirculated or proof set and entered them into circulation

I save them along with my state quarters in a jug for the heck of it

No.

Next question.

Roll them up and put them on Ebay.

Some idiot will give you more than face value.

Shit in a few years they'll be worth even less than they are now.

This.
In the past when state quarters were somewhat popular I sold two rolls of circulated bicentennial quarters on ebay. Got $27 and $26 plus shipping for each roll.
For those that don't know a roll of quarters contain 40 quarters  = $10 face value.

They're only worth more than face value when you want one, not when you want to sell one. This goes for most things in life, it's only valuable when you want it, not when you want to sell it.

This. I doubt they will ever be worth more than face value but for some reason I have about $60 worth right now. It takes a LONG time to find enough of those to make a full roll.

Probably true, but we're talking $10.75 + shipping here. Maybe $11 if you find a real sucker.

So many were made that collector value will only go up when they start becoming hard to find.

My grandfather saved them for me.

I continue to save them.

... so the only value is sentimental.  Early on my grandfather pointed out the jar and I'd bring him the ones I found, too.

Only mint-packaged proofs and uncirculated ones (especially the special silver ones) will ever be worth more than face IMO.

Unless the coin is silver or rare (minted wrong or not widely distributed) face value is all it will ever be worth.

Not in your lifetime.  Even after that - they would need to be sealed in Mint Sets or Proof Sets.

I used to collect them as a kid, just because they were different and I thought they were neat.  I had them stashed with a bunch of pre-64 silver and indian head pennies.

Some years back, my mother was cleaning out the closet in what had been my old room.   She took them to the bank, cashed them in, and very proudly mailed me seventy bucks in cash.

I wasn't happy.
