The first reference to the palistinian people came in the charter to the PLO in 1964.  Before that, there was no reference to palistinians as a people.  they were simply arabs.  this charter was heavily influenced by the soviet union who wanted to use the PLO as a vanguard of revolutionary terrorists against the pro-western Jordan and Israel.  the document was actually written in Moscow.

It really started after 1970 and Black September.  The assumption before then was that the arabs would conquer Israel and then Egypt would get some and Jordan would get the rest.  When 1967 happened, Jordan was saying, "fuck it, I got mine"  So Arafat and the PLO tried to overthrow the Hashemites.  When that failed, they became displaced and homeless instead of considered part of Jordan"

that's why from 1949-1967 there was no country of palistine.  The west bank was simply part of "trans-Jordan" and arabs there part of Jordan.  J

Realizing that the "arab Israeli" made Israel look like the poor underdog (and realizing that the arabs were too incompetent to actual beat Israel) they started up with the "Israel palistinian" narrative.

The representative of the Arab Higher Committee to the United Nations submitted a statement to the General Assembly in May 1947 that said, “Palestine was part of the Province of Syria,” and that, “politically, the Arabs of Palestine were not independent in the sense of forming a separate political entity.”

Lutz. They just talked about this on Al-jerza. Except that they didnt mention anything about capturing anyone, they just said something like "Israeli forces were pretending to be protesters" then talked about them shooing some guy "who didnt get up". I kind of vaguely wondered why they were doing it, since it didnt make sense that they just pretend to be protesters so they could get really close to the protesters and shoot them with their pistols... they do have rifles, after all.
