Get a set of irons. They are the keys to the city.
Learn how to use them, they don't automatically make you a bad ass. |

All things are breakable with a Halligan tool

So, for you halligan folks, does it matter which brand? View Quote Pro Bar. Stay away from para tech. Don't get a three piece, they are junk. You can buy a high end bar like the maxximus Rex. But a lot of the mods on those high end bars you can do yourself on a good one piece. The higher quality(pricier) the steel, the thinner the prying end can be. Makes it easier to get in between the door and frame. ETA: http://traditionstraining.com/single-vs-3-piece-halligans/ |

The pinned multi-piece bars (often sold as "hooligan tools") are sh*t. We used them for years because they were what we had. We finally replaced 99% of them with Pro bars from Fire Hooks Unlimited. You want forged one piece bars. They make a composite bar with a fiberglas handle that looks like it would be serviceable, but if you're not working around energized lines I would stay traditional. |

A standard sledge will get you into most places pretty easily. |

What's more fun then cutting holes in roofs? Smashing down doors. |

It's hard to beat a halligan tool. What are you looking to do with it? For light work, you could get by with a modified Stanley Fubar or something like that.

you can defeat a lot of doors with a pair of vice-grips. View Quote You can knock in most residential doors with a boot But a lockpick should always be the first tool. Firefighters use axes and haligans because they can and being an asshole is fun. But a haligan is the best fast choice for any door that isn't pinned on multiple axis and doesn't have a reinforced frame. |
