The boat is successfully deployed to the patrol area.

We only got caught in the hallway between classes.......it almost got ugly.

Getting the boat stands under the doorways to the pods got interesting.    It was a very tight fit.

The official measurement of the boat is 30'2".   It seems to have grown a bit.    It is going to be a very tight fit in the space.

Cool!  Did you move it one piece, and what was your original targeted length?

Took this pic from the WWI colorized pic thread in GD.

The German submarine U-155 on display in St. Katherine docks, London, England, December 1918. The SM U-155 (formerly merchant submarine “Deutschland”) was a Type U-151 U-Kreuzer of the Kaiserliche Marine during World War I. Built at Flensburger Schiffbau, she was launched on 28 March 1916 as merchant submarine “Deutschland” Deutschland was a blockade-breaking German merchant submarine used during World War I. Why would anyone want an unarmed "cargo" submarine?  What exactly would be required to be transported underwater legally?

I have failed arfcom.

I have no pictures of the boat sailing down the hallway in two sections.  It was just too hectic, and almost impossible to get back and fourth between sections in some areas of the hallways.

We were under the gun for time, and even failed at that, so no pictures were taken till we got to the deployment area.

They were using them to "run" as in avoid a naval blockade during wartime, so the answer to your question is "everything they could".

"Okay, who's the joker that's been using the board stretcher on the ribs of the sub, after hours?!"

Good job, OP.

Now, you *could* fix this, by having it cracked in 1/2 by a mine...
Nah, too much hard work, already. And the torpedo would just hit the floor.

As you were!

She was used to ship cargo from the United States to Imperial Germany until we entered the war.

Update 2/10

Prior to our sailing out of port and to our patrol area.....

U307 being painted on the side of the conning tower.   After explaining that it wasn't proper for a wartime uboat, the crew still elected to have it on the conning tower in the dark gray over the lighter gray.   It looks pretty good, and many, many people have said they liked it.

The online news feed guy was here and thought it was pretty neat.

They also liked the idea of the name on there, so.......

After making the trip down to the patrol area........without any pictures.....  It will remain here for a week or so, then we will begin the task of raising it up and hanging it, section by section.

Luckily with the corner to corner, and up to down, we should fit......I hope.   The students already volunteered to use a saws-all to cut out any wall section that is in the way.

Some still hate the bubbles, but most think they look pretty awesome.   Some just hate being wrong........

Thanks for doing that.

In the first few pages of this thread, there are links and pictures of previous projects and threads.

The top will be visible, as it will be slanted down.  Not as visible as it is now, but hopefully enough people will be able to appreciate the details  up there, and on the conning tower.

I still can't believe how huge that thing is!

My only issue with the bubbles is, shouldn't they kinda be swept backwards?

Like the sub is moving forward through the water?

Unless they were stationary when they fired their torps....

If you look closely, I had them make some of the streams of bubbles slant back, since it will be diving.   The bubbles  hopefully will look like they are going slightly backwards and up.  We will see.  We could always add more.  We've got plenty.

I went through all the 485?  photos that I posted in this thread.   It seems like a decade ago we started this project.

It took less time than the stage coach, but it seems like it was much, much longer.
