While it exists, it isn't 90% of the net.
But yes there is a whole sub-set of the internet. Some of it is hackers, some of it privacy and crypto freaks, some of it is drug and arms dealers, some of it is other horrible shit. There was a site called Silk Road which sold just about everything but child pron. Here is an interesting article on how they took it down. http://www.wired.com/2015/04/silk-road-1/ |

I have found that if I take on all the suffering and inhumanity in the world I go crazy.
My only recourse is NOT IN MY WORLD. If I see it, I do whats necessary. Be that call the police or in one case a woman slapping the shit out of a very small baby in a shopping cart at the grocery store I approached her and ripped her a new asshole. Fix what you can in your world and pray for the rest of the world. |

Op, to some degree I can feel your pain. I had to do jury duty for almost two week. I had to listen to a weeks worth of testimony on how this special needs student raped another special needs little girl. I watched as all the scuzzy lawyers did their thing. Especially the defense for school district. Turns out this little boy had pulled this kind of thing before and should have had special attention. Long story short, the little boy who committed the rape was moved to a different school in the same district and no one at the new school was made aware of this little boys TWO prior incidents and he raped another student. This time a little boy special needs student. The whole time the attorneys for the school district were having information suppressed and trying to paint the parents of the little girl as bad people. I actually cried for a little bit at seeing how fucked up our system could be after it was all over. So yes, there is extreme evil in this world and you can rest ashore that some scuzzy shit bag lawyer will be more then happy to step up,sell his soul and defend it.

I watch COPS for the same reason.
I have a hard time believing that such stupidity exits. You took it to the next level. And while I know that evil does exist, I also believe you cannot be exposed to it without being changed--not necessarily for the worse, no damaged or perverted, but changed. It is something I like to keep in the back of my mind, but almost never let it come to the forefront. Ever vigilant, ever vigilant. And "Be the change you want to see in the world." |

"Besides sacrificing the comforts of life in America, they'll be giving up a hefty retirement payout and lifetime health benefits to work with some of the world's poorest children in less-than-desirable conditions. 'Dark web' is perhaps the second-most abused phrase in IT, right after 'the cloud'. View Quote Here, here! The stuff you see on Tor and I2p is one thing but some of the more heinous stuff is invitation only, off-shore vpn and old-fashioned dial-up BBS systems. I've been in an "IT" related field for most of my life. I started running a BBS when I was 15 on a 486 with a 28.8 modem. Going to college and then working professionally in Information Security and Compliance, you get to see some repugnant shit. With everything I've seen, I'd still have to say that my next-door neighbor's seen much, much worse. He did a 2 year stint as an undercover narcotics cop for a tri-county task force and had to go back to patrol. He couldn't deal with it anymore -- and it wasn't the drugs. The world is a sick, sick place being held in place by a very thin skin of civility. DFM |

I've seen them deliver a busload of old Philippine hookers to a Romanian party. Barf. NATO contractor hiring companies more or less kidnap ten of thousands of people from other third world countries, force them to retroactively repay their international transportation costs, hold their passports hostage, and pay them all sub human wages while charging the USG massive amounts of money for the work they're doing. When they try to escape or report shit, those companies often use certain Non-American security firms to just drive them out in the desert and shoot them. These are the people who do food, logistics, laundry, vehicle maintenance, etc. There was a good long period of time where the quickest way to get your kid a commission as a police LT in Afghanistan was to donate him to some Captain so he could get passed around for a good four or so years before being given his own checkpoint. |
