I don't like the Patriots. I don't care much for their fans. However, deflated footballs had no effect on the game. Luck threw for 317 yards vs Brady who had 185. They could have used beach balls and won as bad as the Colts played that day. If it was close maybe. But the Colts got crushed and deflated balls had nothing to do with them not scoring or Luck throwing 4 Interceptions or the 234 rushing yards that NE had compared to the 69 the Colts had.
The Colts should have accepted the beating and not tried to blame the footballs. |

Part of Brady's statement on the issue
I replaced my broken Samsung phone with a new iPhone 6 AFTER my attorneys made it clear to the NFL that my actual phone device would not be subjected to investigation under ANY circumstances. As a member of a union, I was under no obligation to set a new precedent going forward, nor was I made aware at any time during Mr. Wells investigation, that failing to subject my cell phone to investigation would result in ANY discipline. Most importantly, I have never written, texted, emailed to anybody at anytime, anything related to football air pressure before this issue was raised at the AFC Championship game in January. To suggest that I destroyed a phone to avoid giving the NFL information it requested is completely wrong. To try and reconcile the record and fully cooperate with the investigation after I was disciplined in May, we turned over detailed pages of cell phone records and all of the emails that Mr. Wells requested. We even contacted the phone company to see if there was any possible way we could retrieve any/all of the actual text messages from my old phone. In short, we exhausted every possibility to give the NFL everything we could and offered to go thru the identity for every text and phone call during the relevant time. Regardless, the NFL knows that Mr. Wells already had ALL relevant communications with Patriots personnel that either Mr. Wells saw or that I was questioned about in my appeal hearing. There is no “smoking gun” and this controversy is manufactured to distract from the fact they have zero evidence of wrongdoing. |

Inflating footballs, and then neglecting to measure them properly, and then when measured, the difference in pressure is easily explained by science, is not cheating. Furthermore, if it actually mattered, the NFL would keep proper tabs on the game balls, like they do the kicking balls. But I guess Brady is "guilty" of "something" because he had the foresight to destroy his shit before some NFL official could get their dickbeaters on it, and potentially leak private materal from his personal phone (because that's never happened before, am I right?). the nfl network actually tested this and proved the game time temperature wouldn't effect the pressure of the balls as much] as everyone thinks it would. he could have came clean. he could have had his attorney provide the information wells was looking for off of his sell phone yet he still destroyed it. hes guilty I don't know what "game time temperature wouldn't effect the pressure of the balls as much as everyone thinks it would" means, but the Ideal Gas Law predicts a 1.0 - 1.2 psi loss for the temps experienced the AFCCG. But the NFL Network (who are NFL employees) and everyone else at the time was misinformed as to what the actual halftime measurements were. A source in the NFL leaked a bogus story to Chris Mortensen the day after the AFCCG that 10/11 balls measured at halftime were a full 2 PSI below the 12.5 limit. That report set a narrative and that report was never retracted. The NFL sent a letter to the Patriots that said one of the balls measured 10.1 psi. The actual numbers in the Wells report showed the NFL to be liars. Mike Florio, in a recent radio interview, told how the day of the Super Bowl he called around the league trying to get the actual numbers and everyone stonewalled him. |

On one level he is a complete failure (example and representative of the league), on another level, hes a complete success (represents the owners, takes the heat off them). I hated Goodell long before this, but this just adds to it. Still, hes bringing in the money and keeping anyone from focusing on the owners, except for Kraft now obviously, so they are very happy with him in that role.
The whole thing is bullshit, right down to there being no evidence, and the wells report amounting to "I couldn't find anything, but I don't like the look of it so I'm going to insist it happened. Because, I SEZ SO!". If this was a court case, it would never make it to trial, the prosecutor would shoot it down for insufficient evidence. And the whole thing about Goodell arbitrating an appeal for a decision HE MADE HIMSELF is the stupidest thing imaginable. The whole thing is so dumb, and its not like its the first case of him being a dipshit. Everyone who wants it to be a bigger suspension is certainly not using logic. The fine called for IN THE RULE BOOK is 25K. So... How did we get to 4 games? Makes no sense. IF there were evidence I would be fine with punishing the guilty parties (Brady, equipment guys, whomever), but there's been none so.... guilty until proven innocent? I'm glad I'm not judged by that standard. |
