DLR fans, give it a break, we know where you stand, and check out some recent Van Halen vids with Diamond Dave, sad really.

For the rest of us, let the videos flow.

Van Hagar doing Sammy tunes then:

Hagar now doing Sammy tunes now as a 70 year old man:

Comparison: Van Halen with DLR today.

Not defending dave here...

I believe he broke his nose moments before going on stage at Jimmy Kimmel. I could be wrong. The bandaid was there to stop the blood

I remember when they were popular. I don't remember them ever being "good" and relistening to their catalog confirms this.

Hagar even does Led Zep with his new band with Led Zep drummers son on drums.

70 years old isn't shuffle board and checkers at Boca Del Vista anymore.

Not ashamed to state my opinion that Sammy > Roth.

I just saw them a couple weeks ago.  Eddie can still play, but David Lee Roth quit trying about 1/4 of they way through the show... he sang about half the lyrics to the songs. Referring to the crowd, he said to Eddie: "Man, these guys suck!"

I always wanted to hear Eruption played live... it was awesome,  but they are dead men walking.

they began the spiral into sucktown shortly after 1984.

I liked Van Halen. I liked Van Haggar.  I think I even liked Gary Cherone.

Van Halen now is just some old guys trying to keep it going whatever that might be.

Sammy actually puts on a pretty good show,

EVH wasn't such a douchebag

Don't get me wrong, the Red Rocker is a great stand alone artist but he has the uncanny ability to suck the life out of any group of great musicians and make the mediocre at best (much like Ted Nugent).

Methinks you're the one on the pipe.

Three of the first albums I owned as a kid were "Van Halen," "Van Halen II'" and "Women and Children First." That was Van Halen.

All that Sammy Hagar shit, was just shit. Heck, I knew VH was done when they released "Jump."

But that's what they were good at.    They evolved into a really corny band that tried and failed to be "relevant."   Metallica went through the same evolution.

They were a super group with EVH, but if VH stopped in 1984 when DLR left, a footnote with a big asterisk for legendary guitarist.

I wish EVH would have joined KISS like he wanted too.

I agree, DLR sucks now... see my post towards the top. Couldn't sing and disrespected the fans who paid good money to come see him. Honestly, these kinds of bands have no business performing live now, it's an obvious money grab.

I came in at 1984 due to age, and then backtracked my way through the previous albums.

I lived Van Hagar as it was happening.

Essentially different bands, and I liked them both for what they were.

EVH appears to be a world class asshole.

Backing vocals suck without Anthony.

I saw them a year or two ago in Houston.  I won't be paying to see them again.
