If he has your number and trusts you enough to call, it would pretty fucked up to lie just to protect a teen party.
I know all of the twenty-somethings will come out and say MYOB, it is all good harmless fun and a rite of passage, but getting busted is also a rite of passage, so you are just playing your part. |

Her parents are out of town. There's probably 15 people there. Half boys, half girls. There is beer, rap music, and fireworks. Me and the girlfriend are grilling on our back deck enjoying the neighborhood fireworks and cigars. Neighbor girl's dad just texted me and asked if there was anything going on at his house. What should I say? View Quote If there's 15 of them, it can't be half and half. Wut? Wait . . . |

I'm starting to wonder if some of you fuckers were never invited to a party as a teenager.

18? 19? Why are you not over there showing her the text and asking "how am I going to answer this and what are you going to do to influence that reply"?
Seriously I wouldnt reply at all. You and the GF were out at dinner |

Sounds like the OP has some latent designs on the daughter.
Not telling her dad keeps the fantasy going. What other reason could there be for doing something that may (by a slim chance) endear her to him at the expense of a positive relationship with his neighbor? |

Meh, send him a text and say she's hanging out with some friends. If it gets to bad you can send another one latter and be like. Now it's turned into a party.

Good luck with you'r neighbors trust from now on. |

As a parent, I would not hesitate to tell him. Kids do dumb shit.
This is how I explained things to my young (18-20 y/o) soldiers. What would happen if I gave you an M4 and ammo 10 years ago? Dumb shit. Well, I'm 10 years older than you. That's 10 more years of experience. Not that you're dumb for a 20 year old. You're just not as smart as someone who has 10 more years of life experience than you. |

I just got this text:
"Floater33 just told me nothing out of the ordinary is happening at my house" Me: "That's nothing out of the ordinary for Floater33" Him: "Damnit." |

Had this happen.
Minor little party with just one beer bottle thrown at my house. All inside........10 grand damage not including the uninsured aquariums full of fish they killed by pissing in the tanks and vomit everywhere. Killed all the plants and ground out cig's on the leather sofa and furniture. They wrecked the place inside while I was sleeping. It appeared to quiet down and I went to bed, had to work the next day. ( tired.... I never saw any damage when I went over or I would have called the po po) Neighbour asked me to keep an eye on, but didn't give me a phone number to call. I went over after the beer thrown and it seemed under at least some control. I wasn't asked to babysit, nor would I have. |

The question was from the guy who pays the mortgage and homeowner's insurance on that house. He deserves a straight answer, irregardless of your desire to not get involved.

I had a cottage when my kids were teenagers. I used to tell the neighbours, call the police if they bother you in any way, shape or form. Don't call me, call the police.
I then told my kids that the neighbours were told to call the police so don't do anything stupid. Or if you do and things get out of hand, go to the neighbours and have them call the police. Never had a problem. |
|
I personally would have turned my phone off and called it a day.
