I actually agree....not metal, not punk, just good music. I have a ton of respect for David Groll (sp?) as a musician, and he genuinely seems like a decent person. Fan here.

I would agree.
no argument whatsoever. I listen to a lot of music and the FF's make music for everyone. men, women, teenagers. quality music. |

I'm not in love with all their music, but I don't anyone can argue they are very musically talented.

I've really been appreciating them more and more lately. Coincidentally, "No Way Back" just came on my iTunes Radio.

Hands down the best mainstream rock band of the last twenty years.

I'm 50yo and I completely agree. They're the last real rock band.

Indeed. I find I check them out more and more the further we get from the 90s. Grohl is an excellent musician and makes some excellent tunes. Sonic Highways was a very good show, too - check it out. In it he seems to be the way I'd be if I was a musician: Wanting to create something new, but a student of history and always learning more about what and who went before me. Heck, as a designer that's how I am. |
|
They certainly didn't start out mainstream, they were an alternative band that got popular and their sound adjusted.
I like most of their music, and Grohl seems like a mensch, dunno if I'd say they're the best but they're in the conversation. |

Very nice guys to work with. Hard core when they play. Giants This. Funny, genuine. Oh and "HOT POTS!!!" Fresh pots I think "The Colour and the Shape" and "There is Nothing Left to Lose" are two of the best rock albums ever made. I'm less of a fan of anything after that, it seems like Dave doesn't know how to properly finish a song anymore.. it just devolves into a lot of hoarse screaming, then end scene. |
|
I'm sick and fucking tired of Dave Grohl yelling at me. He's a SHITTY vocalist at best. All he has to do is do exactly what he did for Everlong, because that's the best song he's ever done, and it is certainly a a good one.

Yeah, probably. I like 'em, I'm not a huge fan though. But I can't disagree.

The best thing Kurt Cobain ever did was off himself. At this point is that still funny to you? It's really just stale and out of place. "The best thing Kurt ever released was the safety" is the stale joke. We're just talking about the genesis of FF. |

Good musicians and good music, but just doesn't do much for me. I'm sure I would enjoy their show.

The death of Kurt Cobain (and Nirvana) is what led to Grohl striking out and forming the Foo Fighters. |

I liked when The Foo Fighters trolled the Westboro Baptist Church protest five or six years ago. Looking for the video now.

I saw the Foo Fighters play a few times and they have a lot of energy. But the second time I saw them He stopped the concert for about 30 mins to cry about a guy smoking a joint in the crowd.

Sad this type of music is viewed as "rock" these days. It's pop infused with just enough rock to get playtime on both pop and rock radio stations. Zero originality. It's nothing more than cookie-cutter "please play my song on the radio" music. |
