They take shooting seriously in Norway (televised big event). You can shoot 3-4 matches in a day there in the peak of the season (so I've heard).

Sky-Stank-King
Stank-Sky-King Sky-Kite-String Burnt Barrel Much? ETA: Stangskyting is litteraly Stang shooting named after Colonel Georg Stang (1858-1907), is a practical rifle competition popular in Norway where the shooter has two periods of 25 seconds to get as many hits as possible on a target at an unknown distance, with an unlimited number of rounds. The shooting position is prone with the rifle loaded, safety catch applied and the butt of the stock touching the ground. At the command "Ready!" the rifle is put to the shoulder and the safety catch disengaged. Five seconds later the "Fire!" command is given. The targets used is "Småen" placed somewhere between 125-175 meters, and a 1/4 target placed somewhere between 200-250 meters. A Danish variant very similar to stangskyting called hurtigskydning (litterally Speed Shooting) is arranged by Danske Gymnastik- & Idrætsforeninger (DGI). 10-ring bullseye targets at 200 m must be engaged with as many rounds as possible during 25 seconds, only scoring hits in the black area. Sauer 200 STR (Scandinavian Target Rifle) is the most commonly used rifle for stangskyting nowadays. View Quote |

We had a guy in San Jose from Norway that shot that Sauer rifle. He could swap barrels with a screwdriver, and it shot some nice groups. |

So hold on here.
The one dude is shooting with a bolt rifle and winning? Vs the guys with the H&K looking rifles that are semi auto? Surely that must put him at a disadvantage right off. The guy at 23:20 with the H&K looks like he is shooting faster, but is missing more shots from the center area. Good video thanks for posting OP. We need this as a national spot in the US. |

In the second video posted there's the wild boar video from a few years back.
Anyone have a link to the original? I've looked on youtube and appear to be lacking in search skills. |

Guys shoot faster and more accurate with irons and a bolt gun than arfcom could with scoped semi autos.

Everytime Im at the range every one is Chris Costa. Got to have the Costa sunglasses , the shoes,. This is the only kind of range bag to have, you dont have it you aint doing it right. My mags have to match my rifle cause Larry vickers said so. They are more focused on the gear accesories than they are shooting. Some times the gear adds up to more than the rifle. And as a poster said above me its not just the tacticool crowd either. Just wanted to clarify. |

Thanks for posting this. It's enough to make you want to cry:
-a shooting event with a crowd of enthusiastic spectators. -master level shooters who are respected. -first class facilities devoted to shooting sports. The closest we come to this in this country now is High Power, rapid fire at 200 (sitting) and 300(prone). much, much slower. Rarely shot anymore with bolt guns. I'll be at a highpower match this Saturday. There will be few competitiors. There will be NO spectators. |

The Dismal Seepage Ruritan club has a Nordic Fast Fire
tournament each October in connection with Octoberfest. Last year, my sister's husband's son's wife's brother, Magnus Magnussun, won overall master class. He shot a Carl Gustav match rifle chambered in .223 Lapua. As I recall, he won a Franklin Mint Model '94 Hank Williams, Jr. carbine, a Dale Earnhart, Jr. autographed die cast car, a thirty pound bag of Euchanuba dog food, and a box of .22 shorts. Word got out about the treasure trove of prizes; and this year they already have closed competitor registration. They expect shooters from, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Lapland, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Russia, and of course Dismal Seepage (which has a strong contender with Siguorn Magnussun who lives just outside of town in Frog Level). |
