I have a new puppy coming home in 3 weeks. I've been feeding my last three Science Diet. What are you guys using?

You know what? I feed a decent kibble and a can or two of meat and call it good. I think the meat is the key. If you've ever read any of my posts, you'll see that my dog(s) are always with me. I think a lot of them. |

Eukanuba or whatever and table scraps seems to be good for my Golden. Good coat, hearty shits.

Well Pet / Holistic Select
Iams / Eukanuba Nature's Logic Primal Raw diet (frozen) / Pronto Those are the recommendations I got from someone in the pet food industry when I asked them for you. Royal Canin also has very breed specific diets. They also said each dog will have a preference for a certain food - coat luster. energy level and stool condition are the best ways to tell. |

I feed my GSD Wellness Core Oceanfish which is a great food. The only one I would entertain switching to is Orijen. That food is definitely worth checking out. I'm known for being a bit obsessive about my dogs well-being so I have stressed about feeding him "the right" food for many hours over the 11.5 years he's been with me.

Taste of the wild for my dog. started on science diet as a puppy but its really rich and his farts were soo soo soo bad.. no complaints with taste of the wild..

My GSD Pup Loves their food, I mix some Eukanuba Puppy food with it. I am fortunate that they are 15 minutes away. He is digesting food and moving bowels well, no 'runs' or belly-aches. The link I provided has some good info for Dogs diet. |

View Quote This makes our dogs' coats really soft and shiny all the time. We don't groom them as often as we should, nor do we give them baths as often as we should. But we still get compliments about their coats and people like petting them. |

For the money, Kirkland's Nature diet is very hard to beat (4 out of 5 on dog food advisor.) if you're willing to spend more bothe the Oijean and their slightly less Acana dog food is great. Also check out ' Taste of the Wild but they were part of the Diamond recall a few years ago and we switched to Acana and Kirklands (also Diamond but not affected from the recall.)

Have been using Blue Buffalo up to this point but thinking of switching to Acana. |

make your own out of fresh ingredients
whatever he learns to eat as a pup he will continue to eat his whole life feed him carrots, celery, apples, bananas, cauliflower, broccoli, be sure to research what to avoid.....nuts for example onions are a no no also for bulk I use organic white rice I add chicken, lamb, lamb liver, salt water fish, egg yolk rotate that stuff I do give him one cooked egg yolk daily also probiotics you can cook a bunch up at once then measure out your portions and freeze those |

Read the ingredients. Make sure there's not corn or bullshit like that as the first ingredient (or at all)
Quality foods (no particular order) Solid Gold Blue Buffalo AvoDerm Orijen B.C Taste of the wild Nutro Merricks Halo Ect |

Gotta love a company who campaigns so strongly in their ads about not using byproduct meal, when in reality, they do use byproduct meal. We sell Blue Buffalo at my store, and since the lawsuit, every customer who's asked me my thought has got my honest opinion, and switched brands. |

If you really love your dog then give them homemade dog food. It's easy and I cook it up in the microwave. Here is my recipe for a five pound Yorkie. You can multiply the amount to fit your dogs needs but there may be a limit for heavier dogs.
1 cup - diced chicken 1 cup - instant brown rice 1 cup - frozen peas & carrots note: other veggies like broccoli is OK as long as its cut into chewable sizes. 1- cup - water Combine the ingredients above and cook in the microwave for 7 minutes and let it rest in the microwave for an additional five minutes. Then mix in 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries and a powder supplement. For my dog it creates about six portion that will last for three days in the fridge. |

I use the orijen regional red. The vets rave about their coats, hair, and overall health. And the frequent buyer card helps to relieve some of the sting of the cost. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Mix it up. I was rotating premium shit for a while, then my wife started buying the same stuff over and over and over,Mao now I'm afraid to start mixing it up again.

My puppy (German wire haired pointer) is on science diet. She loves it. Right now she isn't on the grain free one but I'm considering going that route.

Visit http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/ and select a 4 or 5 star kibble that's available in your area.
These guys get Nature's Select (FIL is a distributor), Missing Link supplement, and salmon oil supplement. The goofy one with the bow tie that looks like this is two. The other is twelve. |
