"CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A boy was mauled to death by a dog Monday night in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, Chicago Police said. Rescue workers responded to the 8900 block of South Carpenter about 9:35 p.m. and took the boy — whom police believe is about 5 years old— to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. Neighbors say it was a horrifying scene as the dog broke free and attacked the young boy. Bianca White, a neighbor who lives across the street from where the attack occurred, told reporters at the scene that neighbors were able to free the boy from the dog's grasp by killing it with rocks and other objects. “They stabbed it, threw a big rock on it,” White said. “They just started attacking it and [the dog] is dead now.” White described the boy as lifeless after the dog released it from its jaws. Witnesses described the dog as a pit bull. Police added that the dog has since been destroyed." |

Sad
In before the "it's how you raise them" crowd I couldn't get the link to play |
|
I know, right?
I mean seriously, what percentage of these pitbull attacks come from trash people? 100% you say? Well how the hell can that be? |
|
|
Every gun turns into an assault rifle after a shooting.
Every dog is "described by witnesses as a put bull" after an attack. Dogs and guns are dangerous in the wrong hands. Poor kid. |

View Quote It wasn't a pit bull... It is a proven fact that a pit bull has never attacked a human, or another dog. Ever. |
|
so are we going to wait for the dogs dna to make sure it was 100% pit, or just go ahead and call it now?
|
|
|
A DNA test has not been performed yet on the dog so we cannot determine for certain it was of the BOP.

Fuck fuck, who cares what breed the dog was, could easily be any large breed, I keep thinking about how terrified that little boy had to have been.
Fucking rocks??? sticks??? Primitive fucking tribes have spears and knives and we are reduced to sticks and rocks. Wonder if someone had had a shotgun with a slug or two in it if this would have turned out differently. |

It's terrible to think of the horror that the boy felt before he died.

So.... who's up for a Pit Bull ban? Maybe the government can save us from our dogs!
If not, what ever shall we do about other people's dogs? |
|
"Witnesses describe the dog as a dachshund, better known as the wiener dog, a dog bred for hunting dangerous small game."
Son of a BITCH, I knew it was gonna be a dachshund again. |
|
"By killing it with rocks and other objects".
Later.. "Police added that the dog has since been destroyed". What's the deal, it was already dead and they felt left out so they shot it anyway? |
|
That's why I always carry a knife. I would have opened that dog's throat.

There used to be a guy on DU who'd post thread after thread of every news story he could find about someone getting shot. Even DU thought it was pretty pathetic. |

I was going to say it couldn't be a pit because it would be the first thing in the article until I saw the last line.

Dogs are usually very predictable, having had mostly cattle dogs I can see their breeding come out even as puppies, they tend to herd things. It just comes naturally to them. I can see the same things in hunting and fighting breeds. I've seen pointers "point" without every having a single lesson. I guess it's not surprising that a fighting breed dog would have a natural inclination to fight.
Damn shame about the kid. |

View Quote My wife talked me in to going to a local dog park with her and our 4 m.o. pup. There were a bunch of other dogs there, including a couple of young pit bulls. They were all romping and playing together, having a good time. It was very conspicuous how the pit bulls always went right for the other dogs' throats. |

I have a pound puppy (and a few other dogs). The pound puppy looks a lot like a small black lab, but is a bit more square in the jaw. When she plays with other dogs - she always goes strait for the throat. When we got her, they thought she had some Rott in her, but pretty sure that was just pit. FWIW she is a great dog, just plays a bit rough with the other dogs (but she is pretty small and it is play).

"Witnesses described the dog as a pit bull." Yea, i'll trust the everyday person's knowledge of dog breeds.
|
|
ARFCOM apologists inform me that there is no such breed as a Pit Bull. Therefore the story must be wrong.

Kids die everyday. Why is this news? True, but some deaths are avoidable. More kids die from automobiles. Why no thread? More kids die from gunshots. Why no thread? Is this thread to warn us of the dangers of dogs? Uh....thanks? |
