It really depends on what type of movies usually scare you.

I watch horror movies all the time, so I'm kinda desensitized.  Ghost movies still creep me out sometimes though, so I would say The Shining, The Changeling 1980, Woman in Black 1989, Poltergeist 1982  are some of the scariest to me.

Eta: Insidious, The Others 2001 are good too.

Edit to add that the original Amityville Horror fucked me up too.

that was the worst movie ever made. How do you consider that horseshit to be scary?

The original Psycho.  Still scares the hell out of me.  Then The Shining with Jack Nicholson.

As an adult the last movie I remember scaring me was The Blair Witch Project.  I didn't see it until about 5-10 years after it had came out and didn't know anything about it.  Watched it alone in the dark one night and it actually scared me.  I hadn't been scared by a movie since I was a kid.

Probably one of the SAW movies.

However, I'm not well versed in my horror movies.  They get me way too wound up.

"Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things", hippies getting attacked by zombies on an island. Saw it at a drive in when I was young and the owner thought it was a good idea to have people walking around dressed as zombies scaring people in cars. I still have trouble watching that film at night alone.

Not scary at all, but between the graphic rape scene and the even more graphic "guy getting his skull caved in with a fire extinguisher" scene I wish I'd never watched that movie.

Event Horizon always did it for me.  Not really scary now, but when I was a kid that movie freaked me the hell out.

Das Boot gets me for the water combat scenes - both the torpedo attack on the freighter and when they get depth charged.

I think this one qualifies as the most scary movie I've seen.

That's not CG.

I just read the synopsis on IMDB, or part of it until I said no more.  That sounds like the most vile disgusting movie I could ever imagine.  Why would anyone watch it, and even further the person who wrote it must be completely fucked up in the head.

White Squall, Didn't finish watching it and have no desire to finish it. Perfect Storm at the end was right up there too. I've got more than one relative out there in the Pacific somewhere, with any luck I won't end up there LOL

The conjuring.

I don't get scared by horror movies.

That one freaked me out.  It's just so well made it drags you in. Turn the lights off and watch it.

In all seriousness...............JAWS.

Saw it when I was a kid and the thought of something coming up from below the waterline and eating me keeps me from swimming in the ocean to this day.

I can swim in a lake fine, but the though of swimming in the ocean scares me because of seeing that movie.

Agree  Jawa fucked the ocean up forever for me.  The pet cemetery movies are also creepy as hell.

High Tension.

The best boogeyman movie ever.  I'm pretty immune to horror movies - most make me laugh.  But this one had my testicles moving north a few times.

Skeleton Key, creepy, intelligent and with a great ending. Plus Kate Bosworth's panties

Triangle, a woman is trapped in a mind numbing Hell. Horrifying.

Se7en, of course. They caught the Devil.

Night of the Hunter. Charles Laughton's only film as a director. Robert Mitchum's best role. Not for the squeamish.

It was Kate Hudson, but still awesome. Triangle is great; its loosely based on the Spanish film TimeCrimes. Also check out A Lonely Place to Die and Eden Lake.

Insidious.  Only because the next morning while driving on a forest service road go hunting my headlights hit a cougars eyes and the reflection looked like the demon's eye's in the movie.  Then on top of that there was a really thick fog and I could hear a cougar screaming in the distance while I was walking to my spot before sunlight.
