Well long story short. I lost my job, I resigned in Jan. And just a few weeks ago, I left my wife. So with my life in the shitter, what do you do?
You gosh damn right. You leave and travel the country for a month!! Hopefully Friday morning I am hooking up my camper, grabbing my dog, and headed to Texas. Then onto Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Illinois, then south back to Florida. Ill be making other stops along the way, but these are the main ones.
Will be traveling for around a month till my son gets out for the summer break. Then me and him are leaving for Canada for his summer break. If you are along my route, holler, tell me some cool shit to see, and I may just stop and buy you a beer.
After that, I dont know what I am going to do. Have to start looking for a job.
The main focus of the trip is to clear my head, and just chill out. De-stress. And see some of the 24/365ers along the way. So Ill be posting updates and pics as I travel.
To hopefully drum up interest since Im not really active in most of GD, somewhere along the way, Imma give away a prize!! (Thats really for the 40K post. Its somewhat a tradition)
Got a ton of running around to do tomorrow, then Ill be leaving Friday. Hopefully.

One of my friends keeps posting pictures of Shawnee National Forest in Illinois on his Facebook page. It's very beautiful and not what you expect in southern Illinois.

It is indeed beautiful.  Born and raised in and around it.  Garden of The Gods is something to behold. Down here in the hills is nothing like what most folks think IL is.

So so.
Pensacola FL to Houston TX.
To Carlsbad Caverns
To Mesa AZ
to Grand Canyon
To Grand Staircase.
To Denver Area
To Omaha Area
To Chicago Area
To Indy Area
To North Alabama Area
Then back home to FL.
And all that is tenative. Dont know how long Ill be in each place. Just a few days and such. Just sight see and fiddle fart around.
I want to see all the major sights that I can. See America...

ETA: But I am of course open for suggestions to stop and see stuff along the way. Nothing is set in stone.
Or if any ARFcommers wanna meet up for a beer or something..

Sounds like a good basic route, exploring off random roads can be fun, and interesting at times also.

I thought about it, and really wanted to.
Ill be gone a month, but still on a time table.
I only get my son from Jun 2 to July 6th for summer vacation.
Plus hes got band stuff that cuts into that.
I told him he could pick any place on the map, we can drive to, to visit.
He picked Canada. So we gotta haul ass up there and back.

And I borrowed my buddies DSLR.
Plan to keep it on AUTO. Things has more switches than a Huey.

A lot of great places in Colorado to camp. How big is your camper? If not too big you can get into some pretty amazing spots. Here is a view just outside my favorite campsite at twin lakes past Buena Vista. You can backtrack to Denver.

I think this was in 2012 and we were getting smoke from NM or AZ. I.can't remember who was on fire that year, heck it could have been us .
