Since it seems to be a major theme around here today.
What brands would you say make up the bulk of your .22lr ammo fort? Are there any brands you pass on altogether, regardless of price/availability? Mine, I'd say is made up of about 60% CCI brands, including Standard velocity, Mini-Mag, Quiet and Blazer. A few Stingers in there, as well. 20% Winchester, mostly the Super-X high velocity stuff. 8% Federal bulk pack... the rest is a mix of Remington and other stuff. Lately, I've been into the Aguila Super Colibri... best thing about that, it's easy to find. I've walked by Remington Thunderbolts many times. They work well for some, but my 10/22 doesn't care for 'em. How about you? In before "NeckbeardYou'reCausingTheProblemIt'sTooCheapWhoShoots.22AnywayMyButtItches." |

I have a decent stash of Federal bulk and Auto Match...I wont buy anything else as far as cheap stuff goes.
|
|
I have a lot of Federal bulk that I bought in maybe 2006. I rarely shoot .22, so I'm sure I'll be fine.
|
|
Winchester bulk packs....the 555 variety....have about 15 of those i think...then about 10 in 100 packs...
then CCI....have about 20 packs of the 100 count.... |

I bought a couple cases before Sandy Hook. My boys are 9 and 12 and don't shoot it that much anymore. I have all the 22 I'll ever need. I've been giving some of it away to kids that can't find any. This shit isn't all that important. It's only scarce because of threads like this.

4400 rounds Federal bulk pack
3000 rounds Rem subsonic 2500 rounds CCI Blazer 1800 rounds CCI Quiet 1500 rounds CCI standard velocity 1100 rounds CCI Mini Mags 900 rounds Remington Golden Bullet 800 rounds CCI Velocitors 800 rounds Fed American Eagle 600 rounds Winchester Hyper Speed 500 rounds Winchester Power Point 450 rounds Aguila SSS 300 rounds Fed Suppressor 100 rounds Remington Thunderbolt 50 rounds of some 40 year old Olin LRN |

Federal bulk and Blazer of a 10 year old vintage.
I used to bypass Remington, but I've bought 1000 rounds of golden bullet and Thunderbolt over the last month. My Henry likes them and the Mk II digested the golden bullet without a hiccup. |

You could pack a lot of .22lr cartridges in those cylinders. I've bought less than 15% of that since the panic. Most of it I bought at $8-12 a brick years ago. When the panic started I had over 10,000 rounds just of the Fedeal bulk pack, most of it bought for $7.98/550. |

This pic brought out a few jealous haters last time I posted it. They were so overcome with anger and envy, all they could think to say was "AAARGH WTF I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD PUT A SHEET BEHIND YOUR AMMO JUST TO TAKE A PICTURE!!! WHAAARBLGAARBBL!!!" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/KOOLmike/20140329_094633_zpsudqakq1s.jpg This was before I sold the Automatch and Winchester crap to buy more Golden Bullets (they cycle my semi-autos flawlessly) and regular Federal bulk packs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/KOOLmike/20130510_191803_zpsa50c0e4b.jpg I also picked up a bunch of these 9mm 100 packs back when they were scarce and around $20ea. Damned things are $26.77 now. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/KOOLmike/20130531_191740_zps30c5d68b.jpg View Quote I remember that thread. I forgot about Automatch... I have about 10k rounds of Federal 550 bulk, Remington subs, and some CCI standards. I haven't bought any since the stupidity started. Truthfully, I should be good for 3-4 more years before I have to start worrying about buying more.
|

Hmmmmm. This thread reminds me that I have shit ton of .22 and haven't shot it in months. Hell, I have a brand new Buckmark that's never seen a single round.
I need to get out and shoot that stuff. FWIW my LGS a will sell you stingers by the case right now. |

About 2500 Wolf Match Target and SK Jagd Standard Plus, for match shooting events.
About 4000 Federal, several different types. About 4000 CCI, several different types. About 1000 oddball rimfire: shorts, longs, CB, shotshell, WMR, Colibri, etc. All of it fits inside two .50-cal. and two .30-cal. ammo cans. |

all my oddball stuff got traded during the panic....
i kept all the federal bulk packs............. i only buy cci standard velocity now( that's my go to round) average 39.00-49.00 a brick i try to get 2 bricks a month. |
|
Mostly Remington GB and Winchester M-22 and Western with a few boxes of Fed auto match and several hundred mini mags and some other random stuff mixed in.
I still have a box of mini mags(or maybe green tag) from when the boxes were orange. |
|
In order of amounts. Federal bulk and automatch, CCI standard velocity, Winchester 333. I could grap some M-22 today I just don't need it. I leave remington ammo on the shelve. I don't care for Winchester all that much in semi auto's. The more people whine about not seeing it the more I want to buy it.

I don't have much of a "fort", but on a related note, I heard a guy say to another guy, "I have so much .22 that I am selling it.", which I interpreted as a veiled attempt to sell some ammo in the parking lot. This statement came as 8-10 people were standing around looking at shelves full of .22 ammo in this store. Weirdest thing I have ever seen...these folks were in a spell. They looked like they were gazing upon the Ark of the Covenant. It was like they were scared to touch it. Every now and then someone would pull out a phone and take a picture of it, or look something up on the web. Eventually, someone would pick up a box and walk away, acting like they were doing something wrong.

800 CCI Standard for plinking at the range
500 Eley Tenex for competition shooting (Got them for a GREAT price, started off with 2000 ) 1000 CCI Blazer as it works in every .22LR rifle I have. A couple of boxes of CCI CB Longs, Stingers and Velocitors. I only have space for 3000 rounds of .22LR |
|
I had a rather large .22LR ammo fort when this whole nonsense began and I haven't purchased ANY since I was paying $12&change for Federal 550 bulk-pack. However, I like to shoot .22 and I like to take first time shooters out to the range. I still have enough for maybe a couple more years at my current consumption rate but at some point, I am going to run out and be faced with either paying the going rate or putting my .22 rimfire chambered guns in the back of the safe
|
|
I was training a new guy at work and we were talking guns, as I just bought my daughter a 22 and mentioned I couldn't find any to take her shooting. The next day he brought me 4000 RDS. He neckbearded the shit out of them the year before. He said he had around 20,000. I was grateful.

I've been lucky enough to find, on average, 1 brick of .22lr a month at Sportsmans Warehouse (limit of 1) for the past 5 months. Usually Golden Bullets....but last time was Winchester 333pk.
Other than that....you ain't finding shit for .22lr unless you wanna pay $50-$75 a brick. We are still in full panic mode in my neck of the woods... |

... I remember that thread. I forgot about Automatch... I've got several boxes of that, someplace. Never heard anything good about it... may have to shoot some up this weekend, see for myself. View Quote Automatch is light years better in terms of accuracy and consistent function than Remington bulk ammunition; I laughed when I saw the trade above. I have to wonder about all these shooters claim their rifle "likes" Remington Golden Bullets; if that means it functions but the accuracy blows (and it does), that's a weak reason to buy thousands of rounds of that junk. On the other hand, the Federal 550 round boxes of bulk ammunition falls into the same camp as the Remington, it's promotional junk. |
|
Stingers, Velocitors, mini-mags both round and CPHP, Winchester 36 gr CPHP, Federal Game Shok, some mixed aguila crap
|
|
I would say most of what I have is federal with a mix of cci and Remington

At the time of Sandy Hook I had one box of Choot Em CCI
Right now I am hovering around 11K rounds and have not stood in line once or paid any panic or neck beard prices. I have about 11,000 round son hand. The bulk of it is CCI of various types and Federal Auto Match. Then a mix of a lot of other things like Aguila Super Colibri Winchester 555s and Federal bulk pack. |
|
I have a number of cases of Federal 711 and 711 b and bricks of 911, fiochhi biathlon, and Remington, Winchester, Federal bulk packs plus odd boxes of ely and cci in my stash. I think I paid a little over $100 case for the 711 and 711b..

Mostly Federal bulk and Blazer bulk. I have a decent supply of CCI Quiet and Remington subsonic too.
