I had to cancel a biz trip due to health issues back in December of last year so DELTA graciously credited my account $2300 towards two tickets to go anywhere I want...with the biggest cost (airfare) out of the way or greatly reduced 'm figuring a little vacation is in order...where should I go? The only place I want to visit again is Christchurch New Zealand...so far I have been to the following so they are out...
All 50 states All of Canada Ireland Scotland France India Thailand Indonesia Bangladesh England Belgium Norway China Japan Italy Spain Most of the ME Belize Honduras A good bit of the Caribbean Hawaii Columbia Costa Rica A good bit of Mexico but maybe Baja... and a crap load of places I don't want to remember for whatever reason... So I am thinking AZORES PORTUGAL South America Chile, Argentina Canary Islands Greece Sicily A little background...I like small places, small villages, towns...I am a foody...love food If I could pal around with Andrew Zimmern or Alton Brown and just eat my way around the world in little run down mom and pop places would...local seafoods, veggies, meats, ethnic cultural foods... I'm thinking for some reason Portugal, get away from Lisbon, the coastline somewhere small Or the Azores... Where would you go and why? |

Greece
It's all about the timing if you want the real experience. |

Portugal was a pretty nice place once you get out of Lisbon.
Greece was really nice as well but I was only in Rhodes...Not the mainland. |

OP, go to the Azores.
Go to the island of Sao Miguel. And stay in the city of Ponta Delgada. I was stationed in the Azores for four years after Vietnam wound down. BUT on another island - not Sao Miguel. I was stationed at Lajes Field on Terceira. Actually, my wife is from there. I could go to a university conference there in August but my wife does not care to go back with me as her family all lives in Toronto, Canada now. You should find the Portuguese people there very pro-American as many of them have family members living in the USA or Canada now. And enough of them will understand English so you can get around. Portuguese can be a little more difficult than Spanish and they speak a dialect of Portuguese there with a strong localized accent. |

Tokyo dude, it's the only choice. View Quote Lived there for 3 years. Seoul was WAY better. You have 2300 bucks in tickets? Go spend 2 week in Tokyo, and climb Fuji while you're there (end of July is best time), then go to Seoul for a couple weeks as well. Go do a tour of the DMZ and wave at the starving Nork soldiers. Then fly your ass to Jeju Island. |

I believe Argentina has World class trout fishing, so maybe there if you're a fisherman.

You should fix this and whilst there you can see Garmisch, Neuschwanstein, Innsbruck, Augsburg, etc... You are welcome oder Wilkommen. |

Go to some tropical island somewhere.
Or, do a loop around the United States. Open the cabin door and throw beer bottles at road signs. Fuck it, why not. |
