Olive Garden is the McDonald's of Italian. Seriously, spaghettios is better. As a self proclaimed expert on Italian food, if you must have a chain restaurant, go to Buca Di Beppo.

Wasn't too bad. A shot ton of carbs I'll have to burn off before I buy my Burger King this afternoon. I feel ill, be regretting this later. View Quote funny how taking a missing apostrophe and turning it into a comma changes the entire meaning of your phrase! I have mixed feelings about OG. I don't care for it too much, but it was the place I had my last dinner with my dad before he passed away. He wanted to go there after some cancer treatment in Seattle before heading home to Spokane. 5 days later, he's in the ICU in Spokane and gone 20 days after that. |

Ordered a spaghetti with meatball. I like their spaghetti sauce. It's really not bad, though the spaghetti with sausage is better, IMO. Yep ! Extra sauce !!!! I went to their stepsister (Red Lobster) last night for a family birthday. It was not horrid. Not on par with good restaurants, but better than most redneck fast food.

I literally clicked on this thread thinking I read "Olympic Garden". Then OP said, "haven't eaten here probably in 12 years".... I was like , then I re-read the title and was like....

The OG here went from being okay, to being absolutely abysmal, to being a pretty decent place to eat over the span of the last five years.
The wife and I go there about once every six weeks or so and, in fact, went there Friday night. I had the shrimp, scallop, clam with pasta thing. I'd rate it a solid 7, maybe even an 8. Breadsticks and salad were all you can eat. Our server even volunteered to package up an new batch of breadsticks for us to take home. And, for what it's worth, they made me probably the best Bombay Sapphire martini I have had anywhere at any price. |

Just go to a real Italian place for the same money? Reheated food from a bag isn't fresh OR remotely good.

Some menu items are much better than others....the salad is awesome....the bread sticks are awful. There is one local Italian place here in town, and it's downright awful. I got food poisoning the last time I ate there. I don't mind going to Olive Garden. |

In before ARFCOM says you should throw their shitty food on the floor and make sure the animals don't lick it up! Only 5 star places and up where the help wipe you when you're done at the john. The Olive Garden is a fancy restaurant, the kind of place you wear your good sneakers to. Went to dinner there with my mom and step-dad this evening... he wore his NASCAR teeshirt ETA: Neither of them had ever been and this was my first time going there for dinner |

I also cooked for a brief time. I worked for one of the biggest assholes in the entire food service industry. They have a Hall Of Fame and he's in it. He liked to tell us that he could make, "a mean fettuccine alfredo," and he could. So I learned that. Since then, I'm very careful about ordering those two dishes at any Italian restaurant, including the ones in New York City. |
