11p-7a, 4 days on, 2 days off.

Works out well, I wouldn't change it as long as we stayed on 8hr shifts.

If we had to change I wouldn't mind the 12 hr Pittman rotation (or whatever it's called, heard it called Panama also).   3 day weekend every other week.

I rotate every two weeks. Each shift is two weeks long.

Starts out 1530-2330, with two of those days being 12 hours until 0300 due to mandatory coverage. Monday and Tuesday off

Then two 1530-2330 and three 0730-1530...  Wednesday and Thursday off

Then three 1900-0300 and two 2130-0730... Sunday and Monday off.

Then 2330-0730... Friday and Saturday off

At the end of that the schedule resets with a 5 day long wweekend.off from Friday until 1530 Wednesday.

Confused yet? Once vacations and training come into play watch out!

holy crap, that's all over the map.

Yep. Every time I try to explain it people's eyes glaze over. Not to mention the 2330-0730 is Sunday through Thursday in reality, but on the schedule it's Monday through Friday. When I was married and started there my then wife actually thought something funny was going on.

Add in vacation days and training and it gets real crazy. Like a 2130-1130 shift...

I wish we were on that schedule.  24/48 can ruin your first day off which is what Iwork now.  At my previous EMS only job, we worked 2 days a week and had 6 days off in a row every two weeks.  The mini vacation really let you recharge your batteries.

To me it's a good schedule. Different days off so you're not stuck on the same ones. The long weekend is nice  if you schedule a week off right you can have a whole 12 or 13 days off in a row while only using 5 days of vacation time.

Our plant runs 24/7, except for shutdown, then we work more days. Just finished a 10 night stint.
We generally do a 12 hour shift, 7 on 7 off, wed-tue. So we get every other weekend off.
A crew will do one month on days, then do a month on nights, and so on.
There's certainly good parts of this sort of schedule, but it has its  issues too. Kinda irks me when people (particularly management) say, "it's like getting a vacation every other week." Like some of them to give it a try. I haven't had thanksgiving or Christmas off in years. Though the OT is good and I have been getting Independence Day off.

in my office, the weekends are my favorite time to work. it's just the operational folks here, and not all the regular 9-5ers.

you can park, and it's so much more low-key.

24/7 operations, we keep the lights on, literary.

0600-1800 days 1800-0600 nights

Rotation starts on days Fri-Mon off T,W and start nights Th night work off Sun morning Mon off, begin days T-Th, then you have F, S off and start nights on Sun and work off Th morning.
At the end of this you have a week off or a float week every other time, it'll either be a 3 or 4 day shift float then you get a week off.  Float weeks are the only time you're allowed  to use your vacation time.

I have a color coded calender I give to my family so they know what I'm doing.

I was working midnight to 10-ish (Midnight to 0800 absolute, with up to 2 hours OT available if we were busy or could otherwise justify it. Most folks actually worked 1-1.5 hours a day for shift turnover and end of shift reporting). 5 days a week, with sometimes not so regular days off in the workweek, depending on training, firearms qualifying, etc.

Now, we've been able to roll back one hour and the 2 hours of OT became mandatory (Thanks NBPC for fucking up our pay with needless "pay reform"), so I work 2300-0900, still 5 days a week.  I usually get Monday / Tuesday off, but will probably swap to Tuesday / Wednesday off so I can get double Sunday differential for working Saturday night and Sunday night. 25% for all regular shift hours worked in any shift that begins or ends on a Sunday, plus we get a 10% differential for any hours worked between 1800 and 0600).

12 hours a day, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off and love it. I could never go back to  5 days a week with 2 weeks vacation a year. I also get 2 weeks vacation, so I only work 24 weeks a year.
Been doing this for over 10 years for this company. I  do end up working most of the holidays with my schedule, but with 28 weeks a year off, it really doesn't bother me.  I love remote oil field work!!

Back when I was a Pressman My favorite was 3-13's, 6AM to 7PM Mon, Tues, Weds. Then four days off. Downside/upside, every 3 months we would swap days. The M T W guy would continue working Thurs. Fri. Sat. (downside, brutal workweek twice a year). While the T F S guy got a week off (upside, two extra weeks off on top of vacation a year).

Hard to understand why more 2 shift companies don't do this. Benefits to owners, No high dollar second shift management/supervisors needed. Shop closed and locked at 7PM not 11PM. Benefit to workers, four days a week off, overtime made working evenings after other shift ends at 7PM on scheduled days off. Not on the end of a 13 hour day.

How does 11 hour shifts make any sense?  You have overlapping crews/shifts?  I've worked in 24 hour workcenters my entire adult life, and worked all sorts of oddball schedules over the years.  I've worked 3-2-2-3 (we call it the Panama schedule in the AF) with 12 hours shifts, I've worked 10s four days a week, 5 eights, and 3 or 4 and one (always 12s).  I love 3-2-2-3 since you get 15 days off a month, but that last day of 12s really blows, and it eats up your first day off just sleeping/recovering.

ETA:  I'm currently on a great shift, 1200-2400, 6 days a week.
