It's a big bitch.

Went with a no drill solution, the attachment point is marine epoxied to the transom.

Also have a wire attached in case it comes loose so I don't lose the duper.

Keep your speed under about 50 knots and you should be fine.

Is the wire held on by a zip tie?

Yeah, this boat only goes a few miles an hour, should hold, just need to keep the ducer wire out of the prop.

But I am banking on the epoxy holding and the wire will never be needed anyways.

Good call!  I bought a zip tie installation tool a few years ago, it cuts them very flush.

Attach the cable properly and never worry about it.   Zip ties get brittle over time.

Looks like an airmar p66 made for furuno. Great ducer make sure you got plenty of clean water flowing under it.

And don't expect good arch's on the graph, if you have graduated past fishy symbols ducer has a very narrow cone angle compared to a lowrance 200 ducer

Great for tracking bottom at higher speeds but I don't think that's going to be a problem in your case.

Not doing a permenent install of the display unit, just have it mounted on a board with a 10 amp/hr battery behind.

No skid strips on the bottom to keep it from sliding around, will just have it sitting on the bench in front of the rear bench.

It was used, got it cheap, still has the caulk on it from the prior owners flush mount install.

Doesn't matter, still works like a champ.

Salmon?
Yep.  With all the lakes in CA going dry, we'll be fishing the salt a lot more this year.  Mostly Moss Landing and Fort Bragg for Kings.

Rather than the zip tie you have, I'd just run to the tackle shop and get some 7 strand wire leader and a pack of leader sleeves.  Make your own leash and secure it to the handle properly.

Ok, you talked me into it.

That wire I was using came with the mount kit, I will roll my own and do it properly.

Used that on my boat last summer to replace all my drains and scuppers.

It is some super tough shit for sure.

Can't even hardly cut it with a sharp razor.

OP . . . look up RAM mounts for a secure but non permanent mounting solution.

If you are concerned about the transducer wire drifting and getting caught in the prop, you could also attach it with a zip tie to the same handle your steel leader is attached to.

If that thing has a voltage display function, you can turn use it to monitor your battery voltage as well.
