Congrats VRM on a good run. Glad you didn't tear anything up. The 2 24 second laps are the long ones the times are pretty close together besides those 2. Of course it's on dirt though. Stick with the shocks you started with, and just get used to the new car. It has already proven to be better then the green chassis. Do you have a race this Friday or is some special going on?

I really don't feeling racing two nights in a row I understand not wanting to race 2 nights in a row. I did 3 nights one weekend. Friday Bloomfield Iowa, Saturday at 24 Raceway in Moberly, MO., and Sunday in Quincy IL. Won in Iowa, 3rd at Moberly, and DQ at Quincy, which I was told not to make it to tech. It was a long weekend but I had fun, work on Monday sucked though. |

I had to get around the slow guy twice.
Had a first lap restart. The car is working very well for me but it needs just a little tweaking with me needing a little bit more. Developed a fuel issue where it would sputter half way down the straight then pick back up. Ended up with another top ten bettering last week by one spot. Thanks all!!!!!!! |

View Quote Congrats on another top 10. On the fuel issue sounds like time for a new fuel filter and check the foam in the fuel cell and make sure it is not breaking apart. Also check the fuel line for kinks or spots where it looks like it has collapsed. You are probably already gonna do all that though just a reminder. Glad you had a good run and didn't tear anything up. |

I need to get a little more forward bite in the car somehow I may need to get a little more aggressive too |

Your new carb might like a different pressure than the original one did too. |

Once the issue started I looked at the fuel pressure gauge. Plenty of pressure
I imagine there is some dirt in there somewhere |

Quoted: (more unsolicited input) I've been through this and went damn near crazy trying to figure it out. I'm not saying that I know 100% what your issue is, but here's a possibility... The two things that I picked up on, that is the same between our two situations, is you mentioned that you are getting more hike (car rolling over to the right front) than before and the problem goes away as you go down the straight. If the problem started toward the end of the straight, then I would think fuel filter, debris in the lines, weak pump, kinked line, etc. But happening on corner center or exit and getting better as the car goes down the straight makes me think that's probably not it. After watching me fight this for a few weeks, one of my competitors felt sorry for me and told me he thought it was fuel slosh in the float bowls. He said to first make sure the float levels aren't too high. If they are good, then he suggested doing something to extend the bowl vents to keep gas from sloshing out and falling down the throttle bores. From what he described, two things can happen when the fuel sloshes out of the vents. First, un-metered fuel is introduced to the cylinders, and in an un-atomized state. It drowns the plugs out and creates a sputter. The second thing that occurs is the rapid removal of fuel out of the float bowls and they take a little time to refill. You probably aren't completely draining them, but with the car jacked over and centrifugal force moving the fuel around it can be enough to uncover one or both jets in each bowl. Obviously there are varying degrees of this depending on speed, how rough the track is, what your corner speed is like, etc. On my car, I would pick up a bad stumble right as I picked the gas back up in the center and it wouldn't clear out until about mid-straight. A simple fix to tell if this indeed your problem is to install a hose between both float bowl vents. This is the best pic I could find online and it's a choke equipped 4150, but you get the idea. I don't know why this dude is using a hose clamp... Just find the right size hose, slide it over both vents and cut a "V" notch at the top (which this guy didn't do yet). When cutting the "V" notch, only go halfway of the hose diameter. http://www.street2mud.com/albums/M170Start/100_2212.sized.jpg It's a cheap way to tell if that's the issue and if you want a less redneck solution there are companies that offer metal style crossover tubes that are ported on top. Here's an example (again, on a choke equipped Holley...sorry). http://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/holley_truck_avenger/images/tn/One-Piece-Vent-Tube.jpg We ended up going with these extended vents with a directional outlet. Point the openings to the drivers side and tap them in. After we verified the solution with the rubber hose, we installed these and never had the problem again. http://blp.com/cart/images/vent_tube_lg.jpg I hope you get that figured out. There isn't much that is as frustrating, IMO. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Once the issue started I looked at the fuel pressure gauge. Holy shit that rubber hose thing on the carb is a good idea to try. That man has won the internet for today. Are you buying fuel at the track and in clean jugs? I ask this cause we bought fuel at a wholesaler and had it pumped into old Dr.Pepper 15 gallon jugs that we had cleaned. We didn't clean them good enough I guess, sugar is a bitch to get out of jugs and will cause problems. Took us 6 races to figure out that the jugs were the problem. On the forward bite if the car drove good not loose or tight, more rear percentage is needed. Hope you get the fuel thing figured out.
