Some breaking news from Fon du Lac Wisconsin, state trooper shot by bank robbery suspect and was killed by trooper returning fire.

Wisconsin State Patrol trooper shot in Fond du Lac
Law enforcement personnel gather near the body of an apparent suspect who, according to unconfirmed reports, shot and wounded a police officer Tuesday, March 24, 2015 behind a Pick "N Save grocery store on the west side of Fond du Lac, Wis. Suspect in standoff reportedly dead A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper was shot and a suspect involved was reportedly dead Tuesday evening after a standoff in Fond du Lac, according to WBAY-TV. Multiple police agencies gathered Tuesday night: one at Pick 'n Save in the 700 block of Johnson St. and the other at Forest Ave. and Berger Parkway, WBAY-TV in Green Bay reported. About two hours before the shooting, Fond du Lac police said they were seeking a suspect in a robbery at Hometown Bank, 245 N. Peters Ave. It was not immediately clear if the two incidents are related. UPDATE: 7:24 p.m. Action 2 News has confirmed through its own sources that a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper is dead following a standoff in Fond du Lac this afternoon. Sources also tell us that the suspect in that stand off is dead and that the standoff is over. Several police agencies are working two very active scenes in the city. One scene is at a Pick ‘n Save in the 700 block of Johnson Street. The other is a few blocks away at Forest Avenue and Berger Parkway. Action 2 News has multiple crews on scene and will bring you information about what is going on as it becomes available. Follow Jason Zimmerman on Twitter and Sari Soffer on Twitter for the latest information. They are both at the scene in Fond du Lac. There was a bank robbery at a Fond du Lac bank at about 4:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Peters Avenue. There was also a bank robbery in the Village of Wausaukee at about 2:00 p.m. that also involved a SWAT Team presence at a scene near that robbery (follow Clare Kaley on Twitter for the latest on this scene). Action 2 News is working to see if there is a connection between the incidents. |
