Has anyone ran CW with a bolt action? I think most of us run AR15 platform. Not only because its awesome, but most of our sponsors sell related Items. We then purchase said items and use them in our platform as a way of showing our thanks for their support. See : CW-AR Thread That being said, I don't think we have ever been able to get Trijicon to sponsor yet. CW3, about 80% used an AR. There were plenty of stupid rifles like AKs, etc. that people thought they could show up and succeed with. CW4, 100% of competitors used an AR platform. A few 308s, I think at least one in 5.45, but everyone used an AR. You're American. You're rich (by any world standard, no matter how much you make). You have the freedom to buy anything, the money to do it with, and in the grand scheme of things, rifles just aren't that expensive for the capability that they give you. Buy (or build) the best rifle you can. Take every advantage that you can. Otherwise, you're just a filthy peasant scrip. I may run the next west with a garand. Only two clips... |

I brought all sorts of single-serving instant coffees with me to get other opinions on them. I'm writing an article for an upcoming magazine issue on single-serving instant coffee that you can include in a bug out bag or the like and still be able to enjoy a decent cup of coffee, not the swill that everyone associates with instant coffee. One new upstart company, Jiva Cubes, produces a hard cube of coffee that, despite being pricey, produces a quality cup of coffee. I brought a lot of those and ended up walking away from CWW with far fewer. So I reached back out to the company, gave them some immediate feedback, and they're sending me some more for my taste test article. Good folks to deal with and they produce a good, albeit expensive product. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

They're sending me more coffee cubes since I'm largely wiped out now and still have my article to write and photo shoot to do. More deets on this, please. Hi everyone, this is Laura, s_gorilla45’s wife. Yes, I have an account now, so I’m official! I had such an awesome time at CWW. Great people, food, fun shooting, crazy obstacles. As a (small) woman, the tire flip and ATV push were particularly difficult. I think I got that ATV pushed a quarter inch and my feet were slipping out from under me like crazy. I have got to strength train for next year! The targets were great (thanks for the hard work NVGeo)- getting those far rifle targets was super satisfying, but I’m annoyed I had to use my second mag on the pistol targets. I definitely have to practice farther range pistol work. That 40 yd peep was crazy frustrating. And the cola chug… oh, the cola chug. I got three cans down before puking it all back up. I’m so glad I did, though. I feel bad for those who couldn’t and had to be uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Overall, it was painful but fun, and I encourage more women to compete next year. The sponsors were incredibly generous, and I’m working my way down the list of thanking them for their support. I can’t wait to get what I need to put my new AR together; the upper is beyond bad ass. Thank you to everyone who organized this event (P2, JoshAston, Tweeter, I’m sorry, I don’t remember everyone’s screennames!), to SigChef for cooking (your coleslaw was epic), to Spunk for keeping NVGeo alive (I’m sorry I missed the drunken IV administration), to WingNut for coffee Sunday morning (necessitated by his crazy multi-country whirlwind of strange liquors the night before), and everyone for generally being welcoming and fun. Shout outs to my fellow bruin Dr_Shock (bruins for life!) and ScaryBlackGuns for driving 1,000 miles to compete and hang out with s_gorilla. Looking forward to next year! Awesome to see you here. I still want to see video of your "most epic puke" though, if it exists! I've got it. I was waiting for her to show up before I posted it. If she doesn't have a problem with it I can get it posted tonight. She's cool with it. She would respond but she's been working herself into a frenzy trying to find the proper documents to get her AZ drivers license so that she can buy a lower. Neither ID or AZ issue enhanced licenses but require one as primary identification to get a DL. Or a pasport. Her's is in her maiden name and she just spent the last hour tearing apart the house to find her (our?) marriage license to prove it's her. She may not be impressed by my laughter. If this is my last post, you'll know why |

What altitude? I haven't talked to RA, and I don't have property, but if there is ever one in UT, CO, WY, or ID, it should be above 8500'. I know of some great forest service land by me that my gym has done 5 mile obstacle races on. I'll have to find out if permits are required and see if it is possible. If it is, I'll try to put together a proposal to RA. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

If this helps out... SunDevil Manufacturing makes purple anodized factory billet lowers. They're very high quality and I would recommend them. They'll even do laser engraving for an extra ten bucks, so you could put your name, CWW Female Winner, the logo, or anything else on it. Be aware that it's soft color anodizing, not mil-spec, and it will scratch much easier than a regular rifle. Alternatively, and I don't know how close this would be to "ALG Purple" because I haven't used this particular color, but you can send me an unfinished 80% receiver and I'll cerakote it purple for you. I don't think it's legal to send a finished receiver person-to-person even if I don't charge for the work, but maybe I'm wrong? You could also send me any furniture or other parts (eg buffer tube) you wanted. Offer just for the winners, I think, since they ought to get a nice rifle. I have too many other projects right now to open it up to everyone. For color reference, these receivers are Sun Devil, and the rail is ALG. Furniture is Cav Arms (good luck finding it), and the sling is a Crosstac. This is all the purple AR parts I've ever been able to find.: View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I actually looked at the purple SunDevil lower online, but I thought it looked a little pinker than I wanted. I'm really glad you posted that pic, because compared to the ALG purple, I do think it's not quite close enough to what I'd want. I actually picked up a receiver today that I might look in to having cerakoted (it's finished, but that you for the offer). On the other hand, it has a "I'm your Huckleberry" engraving on it, which looks pretty cool and I don't want to cover up... so might just leave the lower black. I'll have to see as I start collecting everything and putting it together. I am seriously going to search around for the Cav Arms furniture, though- if I could find that, it would be fricking sweet. |
