I think it has to do with how youtube counts the videos. Once a video gets many views (such as yours getting over 50k in a couple of days), they verify the values and probably eliminate some views that are determined to be false (bots, etc.).
The view counting process is discussed in this video about why views freeze at 301.

could be robo clicks
too many clicks from the same ip address to run up views, and if you have monitezation turned on they really keep an eye on that there are actual companies you can pay that have tons of accounts that will subscribe to you and watch your videos to run up revenue for your channel but im sure you tube knows who they are and just take away your views while you waste money paying them |

It came back and I did the math ... very gratifying number. 
ETA - and I checked Todd's bullet strike on that far-away drone ... dead on up and down, and about an inch to the right of dead center of what would have been the 45 degree view that he had. Not bad for a QD mount on a QD rifle.

Maybe it's a depression mentality, but I generally don't like watching videos with gratuitous destruction of otherwise perfectly functioning machines.
If you want to shoot an old car that's otherwise worthless, sure, that's one thing. But breaking something that's useful is wasteful. I also hate wasting food, fuel, water, etc. Functionally, that type of thing is an extension of gluttony. That said, this is America, we have plenty, and you can do whatever you like with what's yours. I understand the marketing merits, and it's certainly well produced and impresses on the viewer the value of what you're selling. But it doesn't do anything for me, personally. There's your free focus group.

Youtube view counts aren't as linear as you may think. If they suspect that it's a bot watching your video for the sake of view augmentation, then they won't count the views. Same thing for likes--if people click on the video, like it, and then navigate to another page, it will take away their view/like because it thinks they were a bot. That's also the reason that they stop at 301 views in a short amount of time--to make sure that they are legitimate views.

The zero was off which wasn't surprising since they cracked the rear lense of the Aimpoint but they didn't mention anything else in the video.
