This could have been avoided I'd she just yelled SHOTGUN. |

13 year old throwing a temper tantrum and an apparently drunk driver... shitty.

For Apopka, she's actually right in the middle of the bell curve.

My God... for all the stupid shit I, and everyone I ever knew, did when we were young- I should have died a thousand times. <Personal attack removed. --tbk1> |

I have more sympathy for a turtle that gets run over.
She didn't dare Darwin, she went right up and kicked him in the balls. |

I don't have much sympathy for the kid. Her ridiculous petulance could have just as easily caused a family to veer off the road and be killed.

Sad story really. Thirteen years old.
That driver is in for a world of hurt. |

RIP to the little one |

There was an incident where an idiot was popping a wheelie on his motorcycle at night, and was hit by a drunk driver. The drunk was initially convicted of manslaughter, but it was overturned in appeal because they were able to successfully argue that a sober person wouldn't have been able to see the biker either because the headlights were pointed skyward. They may be able to argue something similar in this case. |

Always place a turtle that is crossing a road on the side it is headed toward. |

God doesn't make mistakes. Clearly it was her time to go. The drunk 21 year old was just his instrument. It's all part of the plan.

I guess you have to pick them up, without turning them, and walk them in the direction they are facing so that the stupid stubborn things do not wind up walking back across the road to find their last spot as a reference. Some stupid shit like that... |

Police said an opened Mike's Hard Lemonade was found in the center console of the car.
Florida. |

Meh...first comment on the article nailed it. A) shouldn't have been out in the middle of the road B) shouldn't have been drunk driving. Am I sad no, am I indifferent.

Agreed, some of you must have forget what it's like to be 13. Looks like she was in a middle turn lane, sad. |

By 13 I was well aware that sitting in the middle of a road was a bad idea, no matter how much of a snit I was throwing. |

Bad deal all around. This is the #1 reason to not drink and drive, no matter how well you think that you can drive. Even if a situation were unavoidable, the alcohol may likely shift fault.

I used to live in Apopka in the early 80's. It was real rednecky back then. Now it's just another suburb of NYC

Well if we're picking sides, I'm going with the thirteen year old. She was a minor who made a really bad mistake. The driver was possibly drunk and may have been speeding by the description of how far the mother was thrown after contact. |
