Being repeatedly told that the most natural, wonderful feelings I could ever experience, were in actuality a bottomless pit of sin and despair, would be one of the major reasons I would choose to leave the catholic faith entirely.
It's a terrible thing, christian guilt. It's a root cause of many social issues, and especially of weird hangups regarding sex and intimacy, some of which I have experienced first hand with various intimate partners over the years. keep up the good work not having sex, OP. More for the rest of us. |

I do. I had an addiction to it that took me years to get over and it cost me my first marriage.
Like alcohol or anything else, it was a lack of self control as much as anything. I was better able to fight it in my 2nd, and while there were still many opportunities, I didn't take advantage and I didn't go out chasing it or trying to pick up every pretty girl I saw. When they start coming up your driveway cussing you out for sleeping with their best friend the night after you slept with them, and your buddy has to run out the door and throw them over his shoulder and carry them back to their car 200ft away before the wives in the kitchen hear or see them, you have a major problem. |

It's like the proverbial two wolves, the sins that grow in you are the ones you feed. Accepting that we are naturally (by God's design) wired to desire women, the key is just not to dwell on those thoughts and let them pass.
Trust me, I know how much easier it is to say than it is to do, but obsessing about sex, or the lack thereof, or obsessing about giving/not giving in to temptation only makes you more likely to do so. Cold showers help, too. Seriously, look up Nofap for ideas about managing it.
