I am quite the impulse buyer.  A lot of times it results in a good deal.  But sometimes it bites me in the ass.

This one wasn't bad, because I expected it to be a fake.

Winchester Model 12- $250

It was marked with a US bomb but I was pretty sure it was not right.  It wasn't.  Not a big deal because $250 for a faked Model 12 Riot gun is ok.

Now this Krag Carbine just hit me and I had to have it.  I should have known more about them.  $900 and not only it is a fake, it isn't a close enough fake for me to be happy.

1903 front sight

Wrong SN range

Wrong rear sight

I'm pretty sure it is a Bannerman chop job from the 20's.

I don't get bit very often, but it stings when I do.

We've all been screwed before on gun deals. It happens.

Don't get too bent. Bannerman's have a collectibility of their own. I kinda like that krag.

This is why I don't buy old guns unless they are bottom of the barrel price. I assume everything is fake and nothing works.

I wouldn't be as mad if I had paid $700.

Oh well, it is a placeholder until I can find a real one.

so what you're saying is you buy things without knowing about them, then are upset that it wasnt a good deal?

Just start collecting poor knock-offs.

Yeah a real krag carbine for $900 would be a deal

I have a barreled Krag action that I eventually need to buy parts for, but I probably won't.

I'd pay $250 for that gun and wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

My last old gun buy was when I was picking up a browning HP I bought online at the local FFL. This guy walks in with a shit ton of firearms and asks if he can sell them. The store shows no interest. I wait outside and tell him I'm interested in some of his stuff.

Picked out an 1898 finish capture mosin and an ishapore enfield from the lot and paid a whopping 200$ for the two.

On the bright side, that Model 12 is sexy.
