I recommend an aimpoint on the halberd. The battery life is outstanding so you can leave it on all the time and just replace every 3 years.

Replace the Aimpoint, not the battery. Never know when one of those things will go bad on you.

I enjoy the red dot I have on my cheap ATI pump which I only use for clearing my chicken coop at night.
Its the only time I feel a shot gun is of use chasing fast moving critters at night.
6s chambered followed buy 00 and slugs.

Now I just need a better mount why did they put 3/8 cut out on the receiver? Ive lost the red dot twice on the run.

Seriously. OP needs to have light on his HD weapon. I just hope he doesn't spike one of his kids or his neighbor's cat thinking a bear is attacking his home. Every HD weapon should have light mounted on it. NVG's are great but even if OP sleeps with them on they are dependent batteries and they can always fail.

On a related note, has anyone ever mounted an axe head on a maglight?

I don't even think some of you train. Why would you trust your life to a Swiss weapon like a halberd? Such a neutral country like Switzerland doesn't know how to make a proper weapon.

The Scottish, on the other hand, know how to fight, and thus make a much superior weapon. A Claymore is the only acceptable bladed HD weapon that I would trust my valuable life to.
