I want your thoughts and ideas, hence why I am not doing a poll
Personally, I think we are getting close to were Firefly is, maybe where the UNSC from Halo is as well (sans FTL travel.) |

That's a really long time to forecast for. Probably Doctor Who.

500 Years? Do you know how long that is in technological development time? Where were we 100 years ago?
500 Years is unimaginable. |

Ironman suits on the shelf at walmart, 3000 calorie meals in bite sized treat. Cancer is treated like the common cold, obamacare has perfected sex changes and men can conceive babies anally, unfortunately they all smell like shit when they come out.

A lot of it would require a paradigm shift in the way we understand the laws of nature, but I'm open to the possibilities. |

Right now, block chain apps. Fifty years from now, longevity treatments. Mind uploading or AI before the end of the century, which will skip past obsolescence to make meat-based decision makers, armies, and economies irrelevant.

Well if we get AI like in Terminator or BSG - we probably will not be around to see it.
I doubt we will have a natural resource catastrophe, but we could also nuke ourselves back to the stone age. Then there is the matrix to consider - the perfect drug. |

Idiocracy was 500 years in the future right?
Firefly had a lot of things we probably will never have like terraforming planets to survivable conditions. |

500 years ago top-tier technology consisted of movable type and matchlock firearms. Now we have energy guns mounted on naval vessels and computers with access to nearly the sum of human knowledge that we can carry around in our pockets. I don't see how we could possibly forecast that far out.

What technology do you see us having by the year 2115? The world will be totally unrecognizable to modern man. Strong AI, NanoFog, and Human/Computing Mergers will make people a billion times smarter than they are today, immortal, able to live digitally, and/or physically manipulate matter, space, and time, to their whim. I figure most people will spawn off their own universes where they can be their own version of God, and have anything they want in it. You will probably be alive to experience it too. |

Here's a hint: the key to immortality very likely will happen with the exact same discovery as controlling (not curing, but controlling) cancer. Nick |

I'm hoping for genetic engineering tech. Nothing to improve quality of life like engineering out all the genes that leave you prone to certain maladies.

Well, if we dont kill each other or there is no cataclysmic event the destroys all of earth... The next hundred years probably Instellar type tech, 500 years.... We will be what the Forerunners are.

500 years? Maybe a Blade Runner style future. Not so much dystopian, but that computers are seemlessly integrated in all aspects of our lives, human-like robots, etc
I don't see us in space other then by exception. I don't see FTL even close to being in existence. MAYBE a trip to Mars by then. We have enormous technological plateaus to hurdle before we could do anything. |

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 5 years tops.
Terminator - 20 years tops If we survive: Total Recall: 100 years Star Trek: 200 years Stargate: 500 years
