CIRCLE LAUNCHER:  it lets you load several different apps into a single button.

I have all MEDIA related apps in one, all NAVIGATION apps in another, etc.

Lets you keep all of your apps on the first page and accessible with one extra button push rather than switching to another page or pages.

Like a folder?  You can already do that stock.

I knew some smart ass was going to come back with "like a folder" but then I thought obvious differences would be obvious.

Yea, like a folder only it's a better looking, customizable button rather than the plain folder.

Amazon has an app for their appstore. They don't have as much as Google Play, but everyday (at midnight eastern time) they put a paid app for free. Sometimes its crap, but there are some pretty good ones to try (you can always delete it). Even if I don't know if I want a certain app I'll download it and delete it just so it is in my Amazon library.

I much prefer Android to Apple. There is more customization and you don't have to use their stupid proprietary iTunes. Plus, Apple finally decided that larger screens could be a good idea. My 4-5 year old HTC Evo had a larger screen than an iphone 5 I think.

Those are the symptoms of a stock phone loaded with bloatware.
Do these things and your phone will purr like a kitten:
Backup photos, etc.
Unlock your boot loader(wipes phone and SD card clean)
Root
Install custom recovery (TWRP)
Install custom ROM that is optimized and void of bloat
Install custom Kernal (elementalX)
WIN!

If phone ever starts to feel laggy:
Boot into recovery and clear cache
WIN!

All of these steps are explained in detail for your exact phone model at XDA Developers.

That's good to hear.  I'm glad you had a better experience than I did.  One question though:  You've never had your phone slow up, become a little unresponsive, have apps crash, or anything like that?

If not, you are far outside the experience curve for any device.

I don't think you'll be happy with your decision.  I tried Samsung for months over 2 different phones and found it interesting but somewhat unreliable and annoying at the end of the day.  YMMV of course.

I've had a Samsung device since early high school. They have never failed, slowed down, or shown any sign of "unreliability" on me. Ever.

I wonder if the Verizon S5 root method would work on a US Cellular S5?

I'll add some nice (and very free) GPS recommendations: the new Here (ex-Nokia) Maps, Navigator (with free Open Street Maps - or you can pay for TomTom maps).

If you have wi-fi, Wi-Fi Shortcut and Wi-Fi Analyzer can be quite useful.

Most of Google's own apps are worth having.

For browsing, Chrome and Chrome Beta are good, but Firefox allows you to install extensions (Chrome for Android will not).

Zedge- free ringtones, alerts, backgrounds, etc.

PVstar+- downloads from YouTube and allows you to listen to music or videos with the screen off. I use it when I mow the lawn.

Pandora- free music, minimal commercials.

IPC shot timer- practice weak hand loading that shotgun.

I switched from an iPhone 2 years ago to a S3 and recently switched to a S5.

My main complaint is having to dial into my voice mail.  It was suggested to use Google voice but I have always found it buggy and unreliable.

The thing I like about the iPhone is ... it just works. I don't have to fiddle with anything to get around the bugs. Now that said, I'm not surfing back to the iPhone. I like the galaxy for everything else.

Get one of these wireless charging kits ($12).  And an extra charging pad for the office ($5).

Lots of sources on Ebay, like this one.

Just set the phone down on the pad, and let it charge.  I haven't plugged-in my phone in months!!

Why do you have to do that?  I just use the Voicemail app that came with the phone.
