I love these threads. Jesus was all about the poor and the downtrodden. The Pope sides with the poor and downtrodden. Everybody flips out. View Quote This isn't about the "poor and downtrodden" it is about the rule of law. There is away to come here legally, they just choose not not because they think their special. If he were actually concerned with the "poor and downtrodden" he would be in Mexico city discussing why their country is a shithole and trying to fix it. But I suspect he does not want to be kidnapped by a cartel. |

maybe the catholic church would like to pay all the illegals expenses for the lifetime they are here too?
If he is willing to pay the bill including whatever they cost while in prison then he can cross the border in solidarity. Also, pay for all the damages caused by drunk driving illegals, cost of crimes committed, liabilities incurred by them too, as a start. |

And once again, I am in disagreement with this Pope. Encouraging illegal behavior is simply wrong. This country was founded by individuals who encouraged and engaged in illegal behavior. It was founded by those who believe in rule of law. The rule of the tyrant in this case is the Obama administration's decision not to enforce immigration law. http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/pope-confirms-three-us-stops-in-september-no-mexico-for-now-83691/ The issue that was being discussed was his US trip - which has restricted time limits. Many speculated that he would go to Mexico to cannonize Blessed Junipero Serra, a 18th century Spanish-born missionary who is buried in California. The Pope said that it would be very symbolic to enter the US from Mexico - but to visit Mexico w/o visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe would be unacceptable and there was not enough time to do that trip. He joked that visiting Mexico w/o visiting the Shrine would be a lot of Drama - A war could break out. So yes - this is the liberal media at it's best, once again. A long time ago I toured the Vatican, the wealth sicktated me.
If he's so adamant about helping the poor and downtrodden, let him start by liquidating a good percentage of the wealth in the Vatican and dispersing it to third world counties. Then maybe, just maybe I'll have some respect for him as a figurehead. |

Pope Francis Wants to Cross Southern Border to Show ‘Brotherhood and Support for Immigrants’ During his return flight from the Philippines this week, Pope Francis told reporters that during his trip this year to America he would like to cross the U.S.-Mexico border as a “beautiful gesture of brotherhood and support for immigrants.” “To enter the United States from the border with Mexico would be a beautiful gesture of brotherhood and support for immigrants,” Francis said during his return flight to Rome. I came here to say this. I am Catholic and I find it difficult to understand this Pope. How can he advocate an invasion of a foreign land? How does he explain how this fits Romans Chapter 13? 1 Everyone is to obey the governing authorities, because there is no authority except from God and so whatever authorities exist have been appointed by God.2 So anyone who disobeys an authority is rebelling against God's ordinance; and rebels must expect to receive the condemnation they deserve. 3 Magistrates bring fear not to those who do good, but to those who do evil. So if you want to live with no fear of authority, live honestly and you will have its approval; 4 it is there to serve God for you and for your good. But if you do wrong, then you may well be afraid; because it is not for nothing that the symbol of authority is the sword: it is there to serve God, too, as his avenger, to bring retribution to wrongdoers. 5 You must be obedient, therefore, not only because of this retribution, but also for conscience's sake. 6 And this is why you should pay taxes, too, because the authorities are all serving God as his agents, even while they are busily occupied with that particular task. 7 Pay to each one what is due to each: taxes to the one to whom tax is due, tolls to the one to whom tolls are due, respect to the one to whom respect is due, honour to the one to whom honour is due. 8 The only thing you should owe to anyone is love for one another, for to love the other person is to fulfil the law. 9 All these: You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet, and all the other commandments that there are, are summed up in this single phrase: You must love your neighbour as yourself. 10 Love can cause no harm to your neighbour, and so love is the fulfilment of the Law. 11 Besides, you know the time has come; the moment is here for you to stop sleeping and wake up, because by now our salvation is nearer than when we first began to believe. 12 The night is nearly over, daylight is on the way; so let us throw off everything that belongs to the darkness and equip ourselves for the light. 13 Let us live decently, as in the light of day; with no orgies or drunkenness, no promiscuity or licentiousness, and no wrangling or jealousy. 14 Let your armour be the Lord Jesus Christ, and stop worrying about how your disordered natural inclinations may be fulfilled. Oh he just needs to SHUT IT and go back to being The Pope and buy a frigging clue. If he want's to really make a frigging difference he can use all the millions of dollars they found in a routine audit that all the archdioceses were hiding in slush funds or sell off some of that rare art work and books to collectors with too much money. If he did so without passing through a US Customs and Border Patrol checkpoint he'd be in violation of Federal Law.
The people of Mexico are not under a dictatorship. They live in a democracy and have the power to end their impoverish lives by simply voting out of office socialists who have centralized power in Mexico with the government inviting corruption that has allowed criminal organization to thrive. I see no reason, whatsoever, that we here in the US should allow these people sanctuary here simply based on economic reasons. The USA is already the largest trading partner that Mexico has and if Mexico could become more stable I believe more US businesses would do business within its borders. To allow the residents of Mexico to simply flood into the USA is to ignore the cause of their flight and to ignore the suffering of MILLION of Mexican citizens under the yolk of socialism. If the Pope wants to show true "brotherhood" with Mexican citizens than he should stop advocating for oppressive socialism and start advocating for free enterprise and government that checks and balances power. |
