In the bear vs. Hi Point thread, I found this link on the Hi Point discussion board:
My brain just started bleeding a little. Who wants to be the first brave soul to try one?
I'll give it a shot.
Worst case, something breaks and they send you the parts totally free. |
If the price is right, I would give it a shot.
But I build my own 1911s, so I figure I could make I work, so long as it took standard 1911 parts. |
I don't know if even Hi-Point can make a 1911 that'll run.
BTW, it says Hi-Point distributor. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

"...there is no relationship with any other company that MKS Supply represents such as Hi Point Firearms." |
It's not made by Hipoint, it is MKS Supply who distributes Hipoints.
They are distributing these 1911s as well |
Although I don't want a .45. I applaud them for producing a product made in the USA.
Not built by the same guys. They're just distributing them.
not for 750$....
ive had a rock island and a citadel that never skipped a beat and i paid alot less than that |

Did ya read the article? It's not made by hi point. It's just the same distributor. Even so, just because hi point makes a cheap product doesn't mean they couldn't do a good job on a nicer item.
I've got some respect for hi point. They are far and away the most reliable new manufacture pistols under 150 and their warranty is unbeatable. If that's what someone can afford, then it's not an awful option. |

I wouldn't buy one for the price they're asking. Sign me up for the CZ 1911 though.

I'm trying to get over the fact that Hi-point has enough of a fan base to have it's own forum.
What was the subject, again? |

brave ?
its just a hi-point, and not a glock gernade ...for the record i do own a glock, and a hi-point 9mm.

Looks like every other 1911. Fuckin brand snobs View Quote Yep they all do look a like, but the build quality between brands are not the same. I'm more interested in the CZ1911 since I know they build a high end semi-custom, production or whatever someone wants to call it type of build over many other 1911s out there. I used to own Ruger, Kimber, Colt, RIA, Springfield Armory and the like, but sold them all after buying my Valor. I'm just hoping the CZ 1911 will be at least close to the same quality Dan Wesson puts out considering they're probably making it anyhow. |

I'll try one for under $700 because thats how much they will be selling for in order to be competitive price wise.

It's a new incarnation of Inland Manufacturing.
http://www.inland-mfg.com/ They're also bringing out an M1 Carbine, M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine with folding stock, and a carry version 1911. Made in the USA? OK. The site FAQ says the carbine receivers are cast rather than forged. Not so OK. (Yeah, I'm old fashioned.) |
Depending on the price point, I'd get one, it's an Inland production, not Hi-Point made here in the USA.
A series 70 1911 to play with, what's not to like. |

I don't want to buy a 1911 at any price, but I AM going to buy a HiPoint the next time I see one. Preferably in 9mm but I would probably take one in .45 ACP if one came along.

Huh - I saw a user - a paid forum user - on there named "wganz" Don't we have a wganz? Is he slumming around?
according to their website their Carbines have cast receivers I wonder if the 1911 are cast to
