Been watching Rush videos for a few hours, Neil Peart's back must be broken for how far he carried them. Google videos to see what I'm saying. Don't know how to imbed |
|
No, watch the live action.
Guitar and other stuff is very minimal- drums kick ass. Been listening to them for over 35 years, just figured it out by watching - oh well. Never seen live. |
|
Not the best ever.
But absolutely one of the greats in rock. I also give him credit for eventually growing up and realizing how much of a tard Ayn Rand really was. |
|
I swear to JMB I was watching Neil Peart videos today and almost made this exact post earlier.
|

Sounds like popcorn popping.
Bonzo, Ginger Baker, many others made better drummers. |
|
The singers voice was the one thing that always made me keep my distance and not get more into them, though I thought he had an interesting style of bass playing.

|
May or may not be the greatest drummer, I don't know. But I do know there is no other drummer that I enjoy listing to more than NP.

Neil is a technical master, there is not doubt. I LOVE him and Rush. But if we are talking drumming MAGIC, Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" is a work of timeless art that stands alone today, as the pinnacle of drumming bad assery. That drumming track, brother, is unequaled and unsurpassed to this day, even with all the digital voodoo available today. |

One of the things that I really like about NP is that he knows he doesn't know everything about drumming. As good as he is, he still wants to learn more. Just having that kind of attitude is amazing.

Yes. Easily the best. And the rest of his band are also top stars.
No 3 piece has ever been like that, or ever will be. |

I'm glad someone else here agrees with me. Yep, buddy was an asshole in real life but one of the best. Best drummer to me is Joe Morello as he had feel. But, I'm a jazz drummer. Dave Weckl is a beast. A friend of mine met Buddy in real life. His dad was a cop and got the kid back stage. He saw buddy and his dad said "sir my son is a real big fan and wants to meet you". Buddy looked at him while warming up on a practice pad and then looked away and didn't say a word. The best is Buddy secretly recorded cursing out his band on his tour bus. Google it. I like his work, but he was an asshole. |

Buddy Rich was the best drummer of all time, just ask Buddy and he'd tell you so. Yes, probably someone that you might not want to hang around with, but a truly great drummer. |

View Quote This. However, Peart was heavily inspired by BR/Krupa. |

Been to MANY Rush concerts over the years, I was a die hard fan. Unfortunately haven't been to a concert in years.
Watching and listening live is an incredible show. Yes, I did drink at the shows. Yes, I do remember them. Let me add that if the pot head in front of you is lighting a joint, DON'T spill you Bacardi 151. |

View Quote You realize that you're comparing Neil Peart to Buddy Rich, right? I've always wondered who sucked, whether it was Ludwig van or that Amadeus guy. |

You realize that you're comparing Neil Peart to Buddy Rich, right? I've always wondered who sucked, whether it was Ludwig van or that Amadeus guy. Well, the topic was "Best Drummer Ever". Not saying Pert is a bad drummer, he's certainly not. In fact he's very good. |

I'm on the side of best. Drummers hardly get recognition behind lead guitar and singer. He Definately is a super star.
