Kind of want, but the Amazon reviews make them sound cheap.  Can anyone recommend something similar?

I like mine. Had it probably 12 years now. I don't treat it poorly but it has been in the Pacific and the only issue is the leather band got kind of... rotty. So I replaced it with a rubber diver's band and it's been fine since.

Traser H3.

Same watch, less money.

Mine lasted 3 years before the stem broke. I like the watch but won't buy another.

Check out Marathon before buying Luminox.

I've had one since 2004.

Replaced the battery once, tritium is still bright.

Traser P6506 - titanium case, sapphire crystal, sterile dial (now discontinued), and dive bezel replaced with a 12-hour bezel. My "go to" watch when I don't feel like winding and setting one of the autos.

Only had my pointman recon for a year but it has been banged, smacked, dragged repeatedly and still keeps time like a...Swiss watch.

I have a TWATTEC trituium EO Diver (whatever the hell that means).

It's a decent enough watch, but the date died on mine.

The H3 dials are a bit dim at night.

This I had a SEAL model for several years and out of the blue the Crown and shaft pulled out while changing the time for day light savings. Contacted them about sending it in for repair and their estimate was almost as much as a new watch.

I beat the shit out of mine to the point the crown finally fell out. Wouldn't buy another simply because they're too SEAL-ish. I'm very happy with my Seiko Chronograph for $140ish.

Very few Luminox watches interest me unless you get into the >$500 category, and at that price I would rather have a Tawatec, Traser, Praetorian... well, basically anything but Luminox...

Good luck on your search though, oh and if you have the budget.... Ball.  Accept no substitutes.

They do not last long in the oilfield.
Stem sucks ass.
Bezels come unglued.

The bezel on mine came off while... walking down the street.

My G-Shock does everything better for 1/2 the price.

Trasers need to be worked on by a higher end jeweler, usually a Traser specific one. That said, all I've needed in the last six years was a new battery.

NO! Do not FO!

If they were a third of the price they'd be worth it. For what they do charge, you can get an actually nice watch. I bought one after haggling with the seller for $100 off, then a few months later the band popped off as I was putting on my backpack. Yeah... Navy Seal watch for sure. Not only that, but little bits of the paint/whatever it is have flaked off on the face. This would be acceptable on a $50 watch, but not a $200+ one.

I have had one of the original models for over 10 years now.  I used to wear it all the time, but it has been demoted to my weekend "knock-around" watch.  Other than a scratched crystal, it is still going strong.

Tritium's just expensive.  You find me a cheap automatic with tritium lamps I'll be your best friend.

I don't know why the Russians don't make with the tritium.  Everything over there half glows anyway and their damn plant is the source for all non-US tritium anyway I believe.

I should write to the vostok dude.  He's like 500 miles from the big glowing shitshow, he could probably just dip a few watches in Lake Karachay.

Traser outsources their service in the US to Universal Watch Repair. They replaced the dive bezel on my P6506 with a 12-hour bezel. I was quite happy with the price and turnaround time.

Good point.

I happen to like the tritium feature quite a bit. I saw a vendor at SHOT earlier this year who had tritium watches, but I can't remember if it was Traser or not.

Do not buy a Luminox, especially from a place that is not an authorized dealer.

I bought one. I dropped it onto carpet. One of the tritium pieces fell off. Could not get it warranty repaired because I bought it from Amazon.

I dropped it on CARPET!

I have a nice Luminox in the safe, and it's really sweet for a quartz watch with luminous tubes.  I guess as one progressively becomes a watch geek, many usually move on to automatics and the like.  I currently wear a Seiko kinetic dive that I just love.

Tritium isn't even that expensive, there was a guy on CPF selling nice little vials for $6 a few years ago.

maybe the Swiss have a patent or something?

or Japanese companies refuse to use it because Hiroshima?       I dunno, but it pisses me off.   i would happily pay an extra $100 to add H3 to my Ti Citizen.  but Nooooooo gotta buy a Ball for $8700.
