And I thought I read that the RS3 would have a new Quattro system of some sort, which will then work it's way down the line to the rest of the cars. View Quote I don't know about the RS3, but the S3 uses a Haldex system. |

I'm a Jaguar guy, so I'm going to suggest the XF AWD Sport. It's got a 340 hp supercharged V6; 6.1 to 60, so it's spritely rather than seriously fast.
They really need to build an AWD system that can handle the 550 hp V8. |

Audi A4S?
Ford 2.0 has 240HP and 270lbs/ft torque. More than the Audi 2.0, but the 6 speed vs Audi's 8 speed (I think) makes it slower.

View Quote No, its because Audi Doesn't tune their engines for peak numbers trying to sell them in adds and magazine covers, they tune them for the widest powerband possible. gives a refined feeling of a bigger motor, the ability to pass without having to down shift, or to fling it around up a mountain rd without needing to test the rev limiter and still have fun. HP doesn't mean crap, a good responsive engine with good torque and good HP is the key. you can have fun, with a fairly fast car without having the beat the snot out of it. |

Ford Taurus SHO. You won't look like a teenager with a mohawk. I have a good friend from HS, who hasn't been able to keep a STI together. You won't have that issue with the Ford. Your love affair with a third pedal may keep destined to failure. I do prefer a manual myself, but if I was in the market and budget allowed I would own a SHO. Looks wicked without looking teenager. http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2013/04/hennessey-ford-taurus-sho-maxboost-445-628.jpg View Quote |

Quoted: A new A4, they are EXCELLENT cars. ETA: The Subey may be qucik maybe even quicker depending on the model. But the interior blows compared to the Audi. Closest you'll get to the Audi is the BMW 3 series with AWD. Of the BMW and Audi, I think the Audi is the one Id wanna live with on a day to day basis. View Quote |

A WRX STI probably isn't going to satisfy someone used to an S4, too plasticky and toy like.

B5 S4 is best S4... Which isn't even in the same galaxy. Doesn't the A3/S3 use the (vastly inferior) Haldex AWD system? Fuck that. Might as well buy a Volvo or a Honda. |

No, the S3 is available in the US. Sedan only, no hatchback anymore. 292hp/280lb-ft, or 380/386 if you don't mind sending a few bucks towards APR. Only downside is it's DSG-only(which doesn't bother me at all, but I know OP wants the standard). View Quote The main downside is the Haldex AWD system that it and all transverse engine VAG cars use. It blows. It's heavily FWD biased, it's inherently much more complex than the Torsen system, and it requires periodic maintenance. |

It's actually 100% FWD until the traction control system senses wheel slippage. Servicing the Haldex diff is a pain in the ass, and it's supposed to be done every 20 or 25k. |

Quoted: Had lots of ice this Monday and hit a curb at a bad angle and crushed the front suspension. Since the car is 15 years old, it's not worth it to fix it up. Need some ideas for a new vehicle. My requirements: Sedan AWD/4WD Approx 300 HP or more Need ideas on different new and used cars that fit the specs. I'm really gonna miss that car. It's sitting at the shop right now (it's mine to do with as I please, no insurance company to deal with) while I decide what to do. View Quote |
