The other day on another forum, some stupid Aussie guy was telling me that their gun laws made sure to prevent another port Arthur incident..
I told him how naive he was, and that it was simply a matter of time and that the danger comes not from the mean used, but the will to kill... I feel bad to have been proven right only a few days later |

I've been to Cairns a couple of times. If I couldn't live in the USA it would be near the top of my list. Nice little low rise city with a harbor and the Great Barrier Reef and great beaches close by. Lots of nature just outside the town. Good rum.
Too bad it will be known for this. |

thats fucked up. Moms are always under stress. Some snap. Another reason a 2 parent household is so important. Maybe with a dad there she could have gone for a walk or a weekend away from the kids. I know my wife needs those occassionaly. |

Cairns police say they have no formal suspects as they begin what will be an extensive investigation into the deaths of eight children in one of the worst single-family killings in Australia. The eight children range in age from 18 months to 15. The incident has shocked a nation still reeling from the deadly Sydney siege. The 34-year-old mother of at least seven of the children is in a stable condition in hospital with multiple stab wounds. The woman, believed to be aged in her 30s, is receiving treatment for her injuries and is currently assisting police with their investigations. |
