I have no clue what you are holding but a bow is made out of wood and has a hand twisted string.

I'm 6'5 with a very long wingspan. It sounds like Hoyt has some of the longest draws available currently.

Been shooting bows for years. I am partial to the Axcel Armortech HD sight and a Tight Spot quiver on my hunting rig.
As others have said practice, practice, practice. :-)
Enjoy your new addiction!

Damn, $1400 for a bow.  I thought the $400 bows were expensive.  My brother wants to get into archery so that means I will inevitably get into it as well.

You do realize that some of us don't care about that, right? I've been shooting the same bow for a while now, and see no reason to replace it.

The salesman was an idiot if he said that it was "decent". The Hoyt carbon line is the absolute best on the market in my opinion.

There were very few changes from the 14-15 lineup.

I would have to agree with this. I have a Hoyt carbon '12 and '14 year models.

Picked up a new PSE DNA and it's pretty damn nice as well.

You did good OP

ROST.

Nice bow OP.

Good form is the key to success.

Don't shoot until fatigue, and have fun!

As much as I like Hoyt the PSE is a really nice bow to shoot. Hunting this year was very difficult, not because of the weather or the deer movement... because I didn't know what bow I wanted to take out.

Anyone else into archery? I may get a regular bow just for fun as well and need to know whats worth getting!

For rests, I really like the QAD HDX. I had a cheap trophy taker on my old bow. Put the qad hdx on my new bow.
It's like the difference between a Ferrari and a red wagon......

I also put on the IQ bow site. Don't have it all dialed in, but I like it quite a bit so far. Better then My old truglo micro bright.

But all of these are for hunting for me. The HDX is a full capture drop away. If I was just target shooting, i might not have spent as much money on the rest and sight.

Hoyt makes a great bow.  But in no way is a $1400 bow better than a metal one other than it doesn't get as cold.  And no this isn't the most expensive bow on the market either.

Anyway it is a nice bow.

Nice bow, Op. I'm jealous! That is a seriously sweet bow. I've been thinking about getting back into archery/bow hunting but just haven't had time. Darn it, now you've got me itching to get another bow!

HHA, QAD and Bee Stinger is what you need.

Holy shit, I love reading archery threads in GD!

I am not normally the grammar nazi type, but for the love of all that is holy, it is spelled MATHEWS. One.Fucking.T.

Very nice bow OP. Especially for your first. From someone who has shot a bow both competitively and for hunting for over 20 years, find someone who is active in the sport who wants to help you get started.

Archery can be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding sports you will ever participate in. That enjoyment is dependent on starting off on the right foot. The bow needs to fit you, the arrows need to be properly spined, the rest needs to be properly adjusted, tiller needs to be checked, etc., etc.

Feel free to IM me with any questions. I would truly enjoy helping you get started.

Congrats again and welcome to the sport!
