Anyone heard anything about this? Saw a commercial flash across my screen talking about Dish might be blocking Fox News coming up.

They get in stupid contract disputes all the time.

Dish got into a spat with Turner back in November and dropped CNN for about a month.

So maybe they're trying to be 'fair and balanced'.

They blocked CBS recently in select markets for a few days over $.

They should, they shouldn't have to pay for channels with advertising on them,  same thing with AMC.

CNN was off the air on Dish for about two weeks not long ago because of some kind of contract dispute. I must say I wish that had been made permanent.

Cause they are a hell of a lot cheaper then Direct or cable.

The wording of this is backwards I think. Is Dish blocking anyone or are the various channels (Fox in this case) refusing to let Dish transmit them unless Dish pays them more money???

I don't complain much about Time Warner Cable. It is always working, Internet is fast, customer service has always been good for me, and I don't recall ever experiencing channels being removed over contract negotiations. It seems to happen all the time with Dish Network.

networks have deals with cable/satellite providers to carry their channel... the provider pays X amount of dollars to carry the channel.. when these contracts come up, usually the channel wants more money and the provider doesn't wanna pay that money.. hence why networks are dropped sometimes... Most of the LA market couldn't watch the dodgers this season b/c time warner purchased the dodger's cable rights and wouldn't give a fair deal to any other provider, so the other providers didn't carry the dodger channel...

It's because ergen has no problem telling fox to fuck off or any other channel. Fox will come to his price not the other way around, they ALWAYS do. He does it all the time. Definitely not due to their equipment because it is far superior to direct or Comcast.

The real question is why did congress decide we fund CNN  and MSNBC with cable fees when we don't watch them? about 100 channels would go out of business if people could pay for what they watch.

We have both...Dish Network here in Phoenix and Direct TV in Michigan.Dish is much better with regards to equipment. However, FOX is probably 50% of what I  watch on these providers... Charlie better get this figured out quick...better yet, dump the 200 channels of bullshit and give Fox what they want.......

Edit : op, change the title....it's happening....

He always does and they always cave. I don't think I have ever seen them last for over a week or two.  He'd own direct tv if the .gov let him. The guy knows what he's doin. It will cost fox a lot more than him. He did the same with the Sunday ticket. He didn't get it but now direct loses $ every time they sell it. The guy is a cut throat business genius.

Yes, the Dish DVR is fantastic, the whole UI with dish has always been smoother and faster than the others IME.

I'd cancel it altogether though, TV blows and there's plenty of good shit online.

That's fine if you want to sit in front of your computer all day.

I like being able to DVR stuff and watch it later, record stuff when I am not home or am asleep.

Hard to do with with online stuff.

I'm not much for T.V. in general but I thought modern sets were equipped with separate antenna and cable line-in features. Couldn't you bypass that aggravation by utilizing the set supplied feature?
