Cops were on the power play and still couldn't take the guy down? Geez. I'm actually glad to see the restraint on the cops' part by not shooting the guy, but they should've had the batons out to crack his head open the old fashioned way.

Why don't they have batons? That woulda put a quick end to the resistance. It is so ironic that these are the same people who claim police are too violent--resisting arrest and boxing LEO. Such resistance is exactly why so many get hurt. It's a viscous circle with no end in site.

I asked the same thing in the Saint Cigarette thread. The general response from the LEO's was a video of cops whaling on a black guy with their batons would look pretty bad, no matter the context.

ETA: covered by Extorris.

Huh, I never knew that.

I wonder how many criminals wound up dead or in diapers before that rule was put in place

I am hard on police that abuse their power, and there are plenty of them. But there are plenty that don't as well. These videos like Cop Block really irritate me because there's a case of people deliberately going out to make life difficult for police, who often are clearly shown to be extraordinarily patient.

In this video what you can see is that the police officers are keenly aware of the presence of the camera. That's a good thing. What is a bad thing is that they appear intimidated to the point of being incapable of doing their job. That is going to get someone killed. Probably a cop. And that's not good. They may have even felt outnumbered if there were other locals off camera who were likely to respond in the event of an escalation. But this situation called for an escalation. At the very least, batons and some seasoning to go on the side.

I expect to see more intimidation of police officers thanks to the two high profile cases in the news. With anchors from the once credible CNN openly advocating the nauseatingly played out hands up don't shoot meme, the bad elements have been emboldened.

Well  now with all the racist shit going around, I guess nobody will get shot for fucking/resisting with the PoPo.
That video needed some 40S&W goodness.

Seriously, you think there is a single officer in the LAPD that wants to be seen stick timing a black man?

They should've used another taser as soon as his sweatshirt came off. It would've had much better results than the first one.

The right of self-defense is not waived if the attacker is a police officer. I am fully ready and willing to put a police officer in the dirt if he represents a threat to the safety of me or my family.  However, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that this is the case in this instance.

Advocating felony battery on an LEO.

Bye.

Back 15 years ago (who knows, maybe it was closer to 20), just over the border into RI, a local officer had a beef of some sort with some local guys (everybody might have been in their early 20s or so). Well, the cop ended up doing something to warrant getting disciplined or suspended (can't remember exactly what) because of his interaction with the guys in question, so he went to the auto shop two of the guys worked at and killed one or two of them. IIRC, the officer ended up committing suicide in prison.

That LEO deserved much more than being "knocked the fuck out." He deserved to be planted by someone CCWing.
