This is the correct answer. I have never tried Pacifico but want to. My favorite south of the border beer is Balboa from Panama. El Presidente isnt bad either.

Corona

Negro modelo isn't bad especially on draft.

The "amber" mexican beers are kind of the last bastion of the Vienna lager style of beers. These were the "King's" of continental style in the 1830's but then lost out to Pilser style lagers once lighter kilned malts were common.

Kind of a lower ABV Oktoberfest or Marzen style beer. Pairs well with the Mexican food especially when compared to light skunked corona.

Indio is a good marzen style but hard to find in the states.

There is quite an emerging craft beer scene in Baja right now.

I've only had a few, but Dos Equis amber, and Negro Modelo are my favorites.

It says fine cerveza right on the bottle!

Honestly, I'm unqualified to say since I haven't had a single top shelf Mexican beer. I like dos equis and modelo, but those are also legitimately the highest quality beers I've had from mehico, and they're still just ordinary macro brews. I've just never had an interest in trying anything high brow from mexico.

This question is.....Interesting.

Agreed.

If I absolutely had to indulge in MEX brew, as if to avoid humiliating a gracious host, make it a negra modelo I suppose to spare the torture of other selections. Other than that...not happening. Japanese and Mexican beer ties for being entirely unpalatable in my book.

Uh uh. I hope to never learn first hand of such a thing either. Hell with that.

I like jap alcohol. Maybe you just haven't had enough? Asahi Literally tastes like vomit to me, but I've had better jap brews as well. There's a reason they own most of the whiskey brands in America now, and that reason is that they love getting tarnished. I'm a big fan of sake as well, which is technically beer.

I can vouch for the beer of my people (Poland) being pretty good. Never fucked with Russian beer. I had the opportunity, but it was like four bucks a bottle. I THINK my friend bought a bottle and I tasted it. If I'm thinking correctly, I remember it being mediocre. I could just be remembering wrong since my friend probably wouldn't spend four bucks on russian swill either.

Dos Equis Amber and Negro Modelo are the two choices I usually pick if I have to drink Mexican beer, thankfully there are many better choices of beer available almost anywhere, even Mexico. Almost any dark European beer beats the best Mexican beer. Now Tequila is another story.

XXX works also. My wife lost  a pair of shoes at a park in SoCal after having some. Never did find them. Dropped her off at her house with the family sitting outside waiting - she got out, car never stopped moving, still with her 34 years. Didn't feel like an ass beating that day.
