I've always thought people who own pitbull dogs are attention seeking wimps that walk around being pulled down the street by an animal that they hope intimidates people. Kind of like open carry people.

Or they gave a home to a dog owned and abandoned by a "knuckle head".

Whenever I see a person with a pitbull, I know that's someone who is either a renter or a trailer dweller.

They get the dog because of what it is, not thinking whether it's the best dog for what they want in a dog. |

They're the same people who clean a loaded gun.
There's a good chance nothing will happen... probably. |

Our Golden Retriever died last month due to cancer. We had her 12 years. It was decided it was time to get another dog so headed to the pound last saturday. At least 80% of the dogs there were pit bulls. 10 percent were chihuahuas and 10 percent were random breeds like poodles or beagles etc. This was in Phoenix.
I saw some very sad Pits and came close to taking one home just because they needed a home. FWIW I don't fit any of your stereotypes. In the end got a cheagle (fancy mutt that is half chihuahua and half beagle) that was going to be put to sleep next week. Who knows I still may go back later and get a Pit Bull. |

I think the comparison parallels the stereotype of "what does being from TX say about you" I saw someone say trailer. Let's see how many other matches we can make. |

A young couple I know litter my Facebook with pictures of their pitbull constantly. They are a really sweet couple.
...until the guy got hooked on pills and broke into a mutual friend's house and stole all of his stuff and sold it. I think owning the pitbull made him into a scumbag |

In my experience, usually the loudest most talkative person in the room. Tattoos are usually part of the kit as well as an over inflated sense of aggression. Most of my friends.

That an education over grade 8 is excessive, and that words having more than 1 syllable are overkill.
This runs through my head right after I realize I'm in the wrong part of town. |

My friend owns many that he rescues from asshole dogfighters and I think he's cool as shit.

Ah GD. Bunch of AR owners bitching about the media condemning their rifles on false information who bitch about pitbulls with false information.
In before the 'my gun can't act on its own!' |
|
most often white trash, wannabe or hood rat.
but there are nice people who own them too. I'm guessing. |

Mine is mixed with Rhodesian Ridgeback and had parvovirus when we found her and gave her a home. She's healthy and strong now but is by far the least intelligent of our 4 dogs. She's great with my kid though and gets positive attention from most strangers.
What's the consensus on me as an owner? |
|
Most pit owners I've seen are generally low class trash and are at the extreme end of dindu nuffin types.

Dindu with pb lived downstairs from me back in college. Fucker robbed my apartment.

View Quote 1 of the 2 people I know that have Pits because they think it fits their lifestyle best get all theirs as rescues from dogfighter busts. He trains and competes all of his in agility, or competitive obedience. |

Has warrants, on drugs, been in jail or prison or on parole. Its probably named Chico

If the dog has a spiked collar then trailer trash no spiked collar then just a dog owner

I own a mix pit dog
it says I saved it from being gassed at the pound he is a great dog. so I guess it says I am half a great guy |
|
I've known several pitbulls and owners that were great.
However, I do so love coming across the "stereotypical" owner with my Boerboel. They are humbled very quickly. Suddenly the tatted, flat-billed hat guy isn't so bad ass. I say nothing, my Boerboel does nothing. Just sits and looks. His name is Edwin. |

I have learned I need to get some tattoos, buy a trailer and rush out for a felony. Since I have 2 of them I plan to purchase some MMA DVD's at a Black Friday sale tomorrow.
Why wasn't this information on the rescue adoption forms that I was given? |
