Day 1, 3 y.o. female pug, hasn't gone poop all day, she has gone pee 3x, how long should I wait before I come concerned.

Nothing has changed so far as diet, last poop was yesturday afternoon, looked normal

Took her on a 1 mile walk and played ball last nite

This morning, when I took her, the flood gates opened, i could tell she was constipated

So everything is good to go

Thanks everyone

What about change in setting/surroundings. Stress and anxiety can do that.

Some dogs can get obstructed, or eat shit that makes them obstructed (socks, panties, etc).

Roll the little piglet over and palpate her stomach, if it's soft and not tender/rigid and the dog doesn't freak out in pain, I'd wait for a day or two.

My mom and h4 bf are over but I would not consider that a change, she acts normal

A few hours off the normal schedule and you are worried?

Take her for a run, my dogs shit every time they go for a run, even if they just went before we left.

Also, if she keeps eating and blood doesn't come out of any orafices, I'd wait, too.

We have pugs, they eat everything. She could be obstructed, which can become fatal pretty quickly. It's easy to test with an x-ray. Has she thrown up at all? Has she eaten at all? If she isn't eating and or she is throwing up, that's also not a good sign. If she is completely obstructed her condition can deteriorate rapidly. You should call your vet, and if you see her looking distressed you should take her to a 24 hour vet clinic at once.

My father lost his dog to a twisted stomach, and it happened very fast.

I love pugs.

Two days then see a vet.  Give her the runs in the meantime.

Running with my dog gets him moving.

Maybe she did poop. You just haven't found it yet. Or maybe it was eaten.

Take her for a run, my dog shits at the first big place to mark every time

Cook a pound of bacon.  Pour the hot grease on the dogs food. The dog will eat all the food. Shit will follow shortly.

Wouldn't say I'm worried, but she poops over twice a day, she is an inside dog and we take her out to go...

I know about pugs eating everything.....

Her belly is not bloated, hard and there is no discomfort when I push on her belly

Will go and take her on a run

Pugs can't run?

Trouble breathing due to mashed in face.

I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever - sometimes he goes a day or 2 without it. I always worry but he's always good.

Keep an eye out for loss of appetite or change in behavior. 3+ days without a bowel movement is where I draw the line.

Pugs can't run?

you should tell my pure bred pug that, she can and does run down wild rabbits.
she doesn't mean them any harm just wants to play with them. she doesn't run
very long but the few minutes she does run it is WIDE OPEN.

op my pug was constipated for a day and a half last week, just had to keep
taking her for a walk every hour on the hour finially she was able to go. if
not better tomarrow, with walks take her to the vet. DO NOT give it a laxitive
or anything like that. last dog x ray i had to have ran about $150. ymmv.

Do you have surgical gloves?

Link Posted: 11/27/2014 8:22:58 PM EDT

Give her some coffee and a cigarette.

Give her a belly massage to loosen the poop up.  If that doesn't work there are laxatives available.  You don't need to worry unless it has been more than two days.

Does it like to chase a ball?  Play ball for a 1/2 hour.

Serious as can be....  feed it raw canned pumpkin or broccoli. All it can eat. The fiber will force it out.
ETA: one of my worst dog mistakes was putting vinegar and black pepper on top of the trash to keep my dog out of it.  Turns out he had no problem eating trash covered in vinegar and pepper.  Turns out one of those two gives my dog EXPLOSIVE diarrhea.  Use this as a last choice option since I had to rent a carpet shampooer from Home Depot before we could even enter the house that night after we got home from work.

This.  If our dog won't poop and we want her to we do a couple of things...

1) Take her on a long ass walk - exercise is good for dogs.
2) Take her to the dog park and let her run around.  Even if she poops right before we go, all that running around pushes shit out.

Did OP's dog shit yet?

Feed her pumpkin from a can.   They love it and they WILL go poop.

FYI, it's also good for when your dog is pukey.  Settles it down.
