It was purpose built for FO time. It's for war. For when you absolutely, positively need to kill every motherfucker in the room. It's too big to conceal, but when it comes out, shit gets done. It functions 100% reliably, and it hits everything I point it at. There are many like it, but this one is mine!

I would bet most who replied with that have never even touched one in the store, much less bought one.

I have a glock 21sf if that counts.  Grwat gun but it just sits in my nightstand anymore.  Truth be told I just think midsize/ compact guns are more practical unless you open carry or use it as a duty weapon.  If I need to defend myself woth a gun too big to carry it will be a long gun.

I'll have to play with one more and see how I like it. The safety could be an issue.

I don't get why everybody says you can't conceal carry a full size .45.  I prefer to carry a full size gun than one of those dinky little .380s or something.  You might actually have to dress around the gun instead of wearing skin tight jeans and shirts, but it can be done, and pretty easily.  I carry an M&P 45 or a 1911 fairly regularly.  I just feel more comfortable carrying a full size or midsize gun than a subcompact.

Thats just it. I dont want to dress around the gun.  A compact 9mm can offer just as much firepower as a full sized 45, and I dont have to wear super baggy shit to hide it.

Meh, to each their own.  I'm just saying it can be done, and that is what I prefer.  And I don't wear extra baggy shit, just a button up shirt untucked is enough for me.  I know people who feel comfortable only carrying a small .380, it's just not for me. I do own one (Ruger LCP), but I'll typically carry it as a backup to something larger, or if I absolutely can't carry anything else.

ETA: I meant to add that I don't care if it is 9mm, .40, or .45, I just prefer larger handguns in general.

The only thing i need to consider when dressing around a full size 1911 is pants and belt.

I just can't carry it in shorts or windpants like the shield 9

I conceal my M&P45 full size every day and in everything from suits to casual wear, hell I've carried it in cutoff BDUs and a t-shirt in the summertime without anyone the wiser. I'm not fat, and I'm not skinny, I've just never had an issue with it with any clothing. Maybe I just have a magical .45 hiding build or something.

I don't have to carry spares with XD.45 what with it being 13+1 and all out of the box. When you get balls carry something more manly that a small capacity 1911

The FNX 45 is fine for open carry.

I don't open carry, so I prefer smaller single stack 45, like a Commander or CCO 1911.

Never heard of them before. But $406 on buds

I have one, 4k rounds through it now with zero issues.  Prefer it to my FNX 45 Tac.  Much better trigger, better sights, grip feels better in my hand.  Only negative is the weight.  I picked mine up for $375 almost two years ago.

I have a G41 and while it's sweet I can't run it nearly as fast as my G34. Ammunition technology has honestly leveled the playing field between the calibers in effectiveness and putting the .45 at a disadvantage due to it's extra size, weight, and lower magazine capacities.

I don't understand. Full size steel 1911, carried at 3 o'clock, in a Galco Concealable on a good belt. Nothing fancy. Untucked shirt or jacket. Not at all uncomfortable or unpleasant.  I don't think anyone has ever noticed. Not a big deal if they do. Spare mag or 2 in a pocket. It's fine for me.

yup, it goes with me in the Cascades, on road trips, sits on the night stand, sometimes next to the toilet during muslim prayer time and winter carry. It is big, heavy and expensive, but it gets shit done and there is a certain confidence with a hi cap 45.

The trigger is not as crisp as my Dan Wesson V-Bob (no kidding, right), but it is just as accurate and 100% reliable so far. I have been shooting mainly 225 grain truncated cone hand loads @ about 900 fps. The gun show and American Eagle ball ammo also functions flawlessly. I have only shot about 50 rounds of 230 grain HydraShocks since it is so expensive, and I had no issues with it either.

Overall, I would have to say it is just about perfect as a service pistol.

Not bad for $475.
