I own two Jframes, an LCP, Sig P230 and Glock 42. I have owned a SW380, Taurus 85CH and Walther PP.
Get a no lock S&W 442 and a Stainless Ruger LCP. |

Quoted: Quoted: This is my every-day carry. Yes, I know everyone now thinks Critical Defense is little better than throwing marbles at your assailant. I will be switching to HSTs, but haven't had time to hit the range and test them in my S&W. Meanwhile, I still don't think I'd like to get hit with the Hornady bullets at 21 feet. http://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/255788/40639.JPG What's wrong with Critical defense? As to the OP--I use. S&W 638, but the Glock 42 has my serious attention. A hair larger than some, but you can get really used to Glock reliability, and it's a hair thinner.

The complaints with Critical Defense is underpenetration. expands wonderfully, but stops short of 12" penetration.

I've done both the pocket .380 and the pocket J frame.
Lately it's been the J frame more often. Just been in a revolver shooting mood at the range, so I've been carrying it too...(when I'm feeling lazy and not carrying my G19 like I should). |

I have a Kahr CM-9... Great gun, but too large for a pocket gun for my uses.
Had a Ruger LC9... Gave it to my dad. Too large for pocket carry and trigger is dildos. Had a Keltec P3At... Sold to a coworker, would buy again if I needed another pocket 380. Have a Smith Bodyguard 380... Good sights, decent trigger. Best of the pocket 380s I've found so far. I tend to carry my 642 loaded with Buffalo Bore ammo in the pocket over any of the above. Been meaning to try the Kahr 380... Buddy of mine had one that chokes nonstop, been meaning to try one of the newer ones. |

Why you no 9mm? If open the P938 Sig, if .380 is a must the P238.
Another option is a J-Frame in .357 with .38 for range use. Any J-frame is going to be unpleasant to shoot, might as well step up to the .357 model. |

was in a similar position not long ago, was looking at the lcr and even the lcp, then stumbled onto a lc9s. The trigger is pretty sweet, and 8 rounds of hst isn't bad either. |

Carried a J frame Smith most of my adult life (I am 56) as a backup or primary or off duty gun. I have quite a few of them gathering dust in the safe right now cause I bought a G42. Easier to shoot well, flatter, lighter (than my all steel J frames), easier to reload quickly...it just makes sense. Every day carry gun is a Shield, which also eclipses any of my J frame as a carry gun. I like my J frames but I would never buy another one.

Smith or Ruger 38 for me, nothing against the 380 just a preference.

I actually have both Smith 38 and Ruger .380. Carried each a lot. Nod goes to .380.

Of all those guns, the P238 is the only one that isn't shit. I'd also look at both Colts (Pocketlite and XSP). View Quote This My brother's brand new Walther PPK popped the ejector off making the safety spin freely. The gun doubletapped during his CCW class. He got it back from Walther and it would fire with the safety on |

My bug was a p3at for about 8-10 yrs.
I wanted a better gun and got the s&w body guard. It's very accurate, but the trigger sucks. Still a good gun, but I don't like the trigger pull. For our anniversary, I got momma a g42. This gun is perfect for a glock guy and as accurate as my other glocks. The following day I went and got one for myself. I love it. I keep gold dots in it and feel confident carrying it. Before the p3at I carried a 38 As a bug on my ankle since the mid 90's or so. For me being a glock guy, I can't beat the 42. |

Very happy with my M&P .380. I have now retired my tried and trusty Keltec .32. The small 9s are nice CC guns, but none of them are pocket guns. People like to say they are, but no, they are not. They still require a holster and some sort of belt to carry. View Quote I wish someone would have told me that... Been carrying a PF9 in a pocket holster for the past 3 years. |

For daily carry I really like my S&W 642. Best CCW I've owned, but I think it is a little thick for pocket carry. Pocket carry 380.

G42 All day every day
Sure, a 9mm or .45 would be better, but I have those too and if going into a more hostile environment would carry in ADDITION to. The G42 fits in a pocket, is light weight, shoots very accurate, and has been flawless from first round with 5 different types of ammo so far. I do highly recommend two things for it, Pierce grip extensions, and MagGuts springs and followers. Those made a nice difference in being able to hold/shoot and 7+1 beats 6+1 Glock should ship them this way in my opinion....

LCP. Mine is super reliable and weighs 12 ounces full of ammo. Very flat in my right front pocket while holstered in my RKBA leather pocket holster. It's amazingly accurate for what it is. View Quote Especially with the Crimson Trace laser on it. I'm very surprised by how accurate it is. |
