The "two leading brands" are disposables that nobody in this thread has talked about, and they aren't leading. And nobody in this thread is talking about disposables. Also, the levels found are infinitesimal. Half of the things you list in the second study are completely harmless (especially propolylene glycol, which is what makes up most of the fluid. Wow, they found the main ingredient?) The other things are products of BURNING. They burned it. We know tons about the long term effects of propolyene glycol vapor inhalation, it was going to be pumped in the air in hospitals as a bactricide/viruscide until they discovered that the same effect could be achieved more easily by using UV lights. Long term studies on rats & monkeys (12 to 18 months) that lived continuously in a 24hour a day vapor environment with zero ill effects. Scrambling idiots dancing in this thread. |

Vapers. Heh.
Finally saw one the other weekend, waiting in the SlideFire line at the TTAG gun fest. Had his jacket tied around his waist by the sleeves, wore a tan boonie hat, was about 60 lbs overweight, and was vaping like a mofo. My first thought was, "Arfcommer". He strutted his stuff to the firing line, and totally flubbed. The look on his face was priceless. Vaping basement dweller. |

I'm not about to read 10 pages of posts, but I'll just say that having to breathe your shit is an insult.
Oh, it's just water vapor, you say? Then why would you want to inhale it yourself? Um-hm, it's also got nicotine in it! Ah-HA! Business owners have the right to dictate weather they allow someone to "vape" on their premises or not. It's their property, their right, just as a club owner has the right to put a fog machine in their establishment if they wish or to allow "vaping". Your right as a consumer is to either frequent said establishment or go somewhere else. If a restaurant doesn't want you smoking, vaping, doing heroin, meth, or slicing pieces of your testicles off in the corner booth while blasting techno music from a boom box, it's their right to tell you to leave. It's the same reason I believe the anti-smoking laws are complete BS. If a business owner wants their business to be "Joe's house of cigarette smoking", "Bob's Vape-shack", or "Timothy's land of testicle slicing", it should be their right do have a business catering to those demographics. The entitlement mentality by many vapists is pretty similar to the entitlement mentality of smokers who insist on smoking near others in public or anti-smokers pushing their beliefs on business owners. Quite frankly I don't care if it smells like tangerine and candied goat anuses, doesn't smell at all, contains nicotine, doesn't contain nicotine, is good, bad, healthy, unhealthy, i don't care. If you goto a restaurant and they don't want you doing something you have the right to leave and they have the right to dictate allowable behavior in their establishment.

Take that shit outside... away from me.
I don't want to be exposed to second hand smoke OR vape... Who knows WTF is in that shit... besides antifreeze. You want to do it in your own personal space, have at it. But don't subject those around you to your habit, against their will. ETA: For those saying it's harmless... show me where and how all vaping juices have been tested for harmful effects, and what regulations, if any they abide by. I don't think a blanket statement of "its just CO2... harmless" really covers your ass. I personally think it should be treated the same as smoking. It's not necessarily just about harmful effects. It's the same as invading someones space with your horribly bad breath, or your overly flowery perfume: it's rude. |

I no longer smoke. I vape. I'm considerate about when and where I do it. I'm considerate to the point that if my vaping somehow annoys you then you've done something to intrude into my space or are just looking for something to be offended about. Get over it.

E-cigs are brilliant, a great choice for people to quit smoking.
However.... In the spring I took a road trip to NY with my father for my grandmother's funeral. 17 hours door to door. I've dipped for 24 years (Skoal LCW.) My dad smoked for 40 years. He switched to e-cigs about 6 months ago. I noticed during the trip that I kept getting nasty headaches and nausea. Took me a while to figure out it was happening when I had a dip in and he was puffing on his e-cig. I was getting too much nicotine, which was making me sick. Cracked a window when he was using his e-cig and had no more problems. Just something to be aware of. |

I don't smoke or vape, so I don't know what the costs associated with either are. Tobacco use is also completely unnecessary and causes costs to the public, so I don't automatically have a problem with practice being discouraged and people who choose to engage in it bearing some of the costs. I also patronize stores that have policies prohibiting the carry of firearms on their properties. Costco, for example. I carry my gun in places that tell me not to as well but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about them being able to call the cops and have you get fined or arrested for carrying your gun in their store. So you can't carry a gun hardly anywhere with out the possibility of a large fine your trianing ammo costs $ 1200 for 1000 rounds, and your carry piece is $ 2500, those being conservative figures.
