The biggest issue with China has already started with allowing some people to become rich. Enough people become rich and they suddenly get this crazy idea they should have some freedom.
General aviation in China is a good example, for many years it was extremely difficult to get approval to fly. A bunch of rich guys said F' it and flew anyway. Chinese Emperors actually suppressed the technological advancement of their culture.
By the time of the Industrial Revolution was over in the US, the Chinese were just starting their own steel works. They have always had a huge populations, but they were forced into an agrarian system that always boarded on famine. |

I remember all the same things that are said about China today said about Japan in the 90s.
The Japanese were suppose to take over the US economy and their companies were all playing the long term while US companies were just looking at next quarter. The great Japanese take over though never happened. China has serious issues with their real-estate market and isn't going to be the land of cheap labor for long that they used to be. If China doesn't promote a culture of individuality and creative free thinking they never see the R&D we have here in the USA. If China doesn't embrace real democracy they'll never develop the middle class they need to survive and some other third world with cheaper labor will just replace them. |
