It's something the Brits sang during the Revolutionary War with America. That show about the American spy ring that came out last season "Turn" has a pretty good scene where the Brits and loyalists are singing it. It's kind of a combo of manifest destiny and legitimate and deserved pride in the British Navy of the time. |
