Glock 19 vs M&P shield whats your vote
the one that wins is the one I get |
|
Shield conceals better, glock 19 has better trigger, more capacity, longer site radius, and less recoil. What do you value more?
|
|
Didn't we just do this stupid apples-vs-oranges thread last week?
|
|
shield is way easier to conceal then the 26. ask me how i know
|
|
Poll says G26, title G19 WTF?
Also, what do you what it for? Please, elaborate.... |

Why bother with a poll? You know ARFCom has an almost fetish-like obsession with Glock, and especially the Glock 19.

View Quote There is obsession, and then there is a well-informed consensus about that which is good and right with the universe. ARFCOM's relationship with the G19 is more the latter. |

I have both. I prefer the shield for conceal-ability but the g19 obviously contains more firepower..
Edit: Oops. Thought it said g19, |

Glock 19 vs M&P shield whats your vote the one that wins is the one I get View Quote Too vague. All around good at everything gun Glock 19 hands down. A very concealable Glock like single stack 9mm for carry M&P Shield. I would get a Glock 19 first if you don't have any other pistols that fit that role then add a Shield later for ultra concealed carry. |

Poll vs thread title are all fucked up OP. Either way Glock is always the answer.
Eta: I do own a couple of shields we use as backup guns but as soon as Glock gets off their ass and makes a single stack 9 they are gone. |

Now I'm even more confused

For IWB the Shield is by far one of the most comfortable carry pieces I own.
|
|
I own a Glock 19 Gen 4 and my wife owns a M&P Shield 9mm with manual safety.
We shoot nearly every weekend (at least two weekends a month minimum) around 50 to 100 rounds each. ____________________________________________________________________________ Glock 19 conceals well if you wear a holster strong side IWB or OWB that is canted forward. Glock 26 If you want to wear a zero canted holster strong side IWB or OWB. M&P Shield if you want to wear appendix IWB or if you wear tight or form fitting clothing in any location. If you are looking for a pistol that is applicable to more than just concealed carry use Glock 19 as it is the only one of the three with a light rail. ___________________________________________________________________________ Notes/Observation: Glock 19 Gen 4: Slide Serrations: I have had full top slide and front slide serrations added along with enhancement of the rear slide serrations by ATEI. These slide serrations along with the very simple block geometry of the Glock work really well together and make for the best positive grip on manipulating the slide whether its performing a press check, racking the slide, or doing one hand reloads and malfunction clearing. I find the stock Glock's stock slide serrations to be lacking, which is why I had that work done. Apex Extractor Addition: When I purchased the Glock 19 Gen 4 I had erratic extraction of the 9mm casings with 115 gr loads (WWB, Federal) so I purchased the Apex Extractor for it and that remedied the issue immediately. I have no further erratic extractions since that point. Tango Down Magazine Release: I also added the Tango Down Magazine release, which due to its different geometry allows me to eject the magazine without having to shift the grip in my hand, which speeds up the time it takes to reload and fire. Trigger: I love the reset on the Glock, but I'm not a fan of the Glock trigger safety and feel the face of the trigger could be more flat. However, I feel it is still the best striker fired trigger out there even though the FNS, Sig P320, Walther PPQ, and HK VP7 are very, very nice. Its got a nice take up and good break for me. M&P Shield 9mm with Manual Safety: Manual Safety My wife had an issue with the manual safety. What would happen is that it would catch on her Raven Concealment holster engaging or disengaging it without her intent. Now I believe that came down to how she was first drawing it and holstering when she started and she was able to correct it so she hasn't had any issues with it since that first range session when she first started using the holster. That said, now that the Shield is available without a manual safety I would strongly urge anyone purchasing a Shield to get the one without the manual safety. I feel the trigger pull weight stock and a good holster along with following the NRA's basic safety rules are more than enough to insure safe use. Magazines Not a fan of the eight round Shield Magazines. Although easier to grip and under ideal conditions easier to seat than the seven rounders that sleeve on the eight rounders comes loose and will at various points make it hard for you to seat the magazine. I would NEVER recommend carrying the eight round magazine as your reload/spare magazine. Trigger: The trigger is awesome on the Shield. I love that trigger. Accuracy with such a pistol like that is just awesome. Good weight of pull, good firm break, nice reset. Slide Serrations: Too slick for my liking and my wife has a hard time racking the slide. Definitely we need to send it into ATEI and see if that helps. The dual capture recoil spring assembly does a great job with recoil and the pistol runs like a champ, but it takes a bit of grip strength to rack the slide. My wife does it by basically just gripping the slide hard and using the pistol grip to push forward and rack it. Grip: I like the grip texture on my Glock 19, but I can't stand how slick the Shield is stock. If ever there was a pistol that needs stippling its the Shield in my opinion. During the summer months my wife's hands would get sweaty and she would have to adjust her grip a lot between shots. The other thing about the grip is that since it's so small and thin the pistol doesn't give you as much real estate for that support hand to make contact like you've got with the blocky Glock double stacks. Reliability: The Shield has been very reliable. My wife is about 1000 rounds into it now and she's literally had only three failures to eject and all three were with steel cased Tula 9mm 115 gr Really it's been shooting the Tula steel cased just fine and she's also put Federal and WWB 115 through it without any issue. Once in a blue moon she'll have a case eject on her head to right to her chest, but I think that's more her limp wristing it a bit than anything with the pistol. Edit: She also had some failures of the slide to lock back on the last round when she first got it using Federal and WWB 115 gr loads. What I did was locked the slide back and let it sit like that for five days prior to her next range trip and that worked. We haven't had any issues with the slide locking back since then. |

shield for summer carry, conceals better, g19 winter carry ,i would go with the g19 now and work on a shield for next summer

Thx for that review! You're welcome. I like both pistols a lot. They both have their quirks, but they're good pistols. |

Sorry, I like my glock 26, 12 rds of speer gold dot goodness.
I have no problem with CC. (IWB, actually Inside belt. outside pant waist band.) OK, I'm confused, g19? but post said g26 ??????????????? |

What kind of trickery are you attempting? Thread says 19, poll says 26!!! Out of the three the 19.
