I live on a limestone bottomed river in central Texas out in the sticks and it is heavily populated with bobcats, coyotes, wild pigs, rattlesnakes. I've seen two deer killed in my back yard by coyotes. We hike the river every weekend and we have been stalked by coyotes a few times but never attacked.
Have you ever been stalked or attacked by a wild animal? |

had a beaver take a chunk out of my leg while duck hunting, chased by hogs, and been attachked by two pits.
All ended up dead |

I had a buck deer look at me menacingly once. I was in a hammock and couldn't do anything about it.

Once my dog and I were stalked by three 'yotes while hiking in the forest, they never attacked but I was a bit uneasy.

Snakes and hogs is all. Both typically get shot in response.

Once had a coon in a leg hold trap charge me and bite the end of my rubber boot.
He was pissed. |

Yes. Spent a lot of time in the woods growing up and had a quite a few run ins. Nothing ever real serious but always interesting. Black bears and rabid coons are my least favorite.

Yep two times. In arizona as a teen an alpha javalina charged me and friend while scouting for deer, i put him down with 357. The second time was in desolation wildernes lake tahoe during winter camping with 4 buddys. It jumped my buddy who was peeing, he was a little away from the rest of us. We threw rocks and other stuff at it until it ran off. My buddy got a little torn up but he was ok with some sutures. He was very lucky. I was not carrying that second time, which was a mistake.

Yes.
First time was a chipmunk in RMNP. Than there was the butterfly that didn't like me pressure washing. And routinely I would get strafed by an angry hummingbird in my yard. I'm pretty sure I was being followed by a big cat while solo backpacking in MT once too. I noticed it when two does were in the area and got the cats attention. Otherwise no. Very frightening attacks indeed. Especially the butterfly The cat was unnerving though truly. Cheers! -JC ETA: I had forgotten about being menaced and harassed by a dolphin while kayak fishing on the FL gulf coast once too. Damn thing stole a keeper trout I had on the line and followed me all the way back to my launch. |

Alligator at Lake Texana when I was a kid.
Fishing on dock. Alligator next to peer. I'm about 10 years old and too close to the side. Yup. |

Got charged by a boar during a hunt, struck at by a very large eastern diamond back and had violent encounters with several cottonmouths. All died for their impudence.

Had my pants torn by a coyote while turkey hunting last year ( or year before, not sure)
Posted pics and story on arfcom, nobody believed me. |

A goose, on several occasions.
I ran like hell and escaped without injury. Stupid green engineering bullshit and my building was built on an old swamp, so there are ponds all over the property due to wetlands regulations. Eventually one of the geese attacked a VIP visitor (the 50lbs of goose shit the janitors were cleaning up every day from the sidewalks wasn't enough) and they added some sort of electronic goose repellant system. Two tom turkeys (on point) followed by two hens came up out of the woods next to a railroad track I was inspecting. The toms put their heads down in turkey assault mode and forced me to retreat, er, attack in another direction . I pushed them back by their necks with my track wrench. This went on for about 100 feet down the track until they thought the treat was pushed back far enough. If I would have had my work truck that day I would have clocked all four of them, providing food for members of my family and fly tying materials for myself.

I was "investigated" up-close and personal by a black bear while I was sleeping out in the open in Shenandoah National Park. It woke me up with its nose on my face.
Believe it or not you can remain completely still and hold your breath when you wake up and see one. |

Beavers tried to kill me one night due to my snoring they dropped three very large Poplar trees right next to the cabin barely missing it...
Luckily while beavers can drop fairly large soft wood trees quickly they have poor eyesight and it affects their aim. |

Don't think this counts but....
Was in NY at the time up on bear mountain many years ago. Was sitting on a rock in the woods up near the top (big rock bout 12 feet across, flat, and about 5 feet or so wide, maybe 5 high). There were bushes / small trees all along the back side of it providing some cover as I sat there with my GF at the time. Well I start to hear something large approaching from behind. Figured it was a person and the approach was far to furtive for my tastes. I decided, I was going to jump up and roar (I am EXCEEDINGLY loud voice is deep) at them. Well as I jump up and roar.....whatever it is (brown / black hard to see through the bushes) spins and I can hear a heavy fast pace thump thump thump as it hauls ass. Bells go off in my head and I go SHIT that was either the heaviest deer ever or a fookin bear. We departed with quickness lol |

My squad and I got chased by an angry gator at Ft Stewart, GA back in 1998 or so.

The neighbors dog ran out to eat me once, it looked pretty serious about it so just bladed at 45 and yelled YOU WILL NOT BITE ME ON THE ASS! Luckily my lab met that mutt in the middle and commenced to put a whoopin on him for it. Was pretty proud of him that day.

I was bitten by a snake in 6th grade. I had grabbed it and was trying to release it in the weeds before a big group of kids stomped it.
Non-venomous (I knew that before I grabbed it). Drew one drop of blood. The school officials freaked. I got to go home for the day. |

I had a wild pig charge me once.
I guess it saw that 10mm I had pointed at it and made a fast retreat. One more second and I would be eating pork chops. |

Almost ran over a 12 footer crossing one of the dirt roads down by the river. Zone C I think is what they called that area back then. Dam thing was laying right in he middle. Had to get out and throw rocks at it. |

Camping in the open. Woke up when something with a raspy tongue licked my ear. I played dead and it went away.
I was charged by black bear and at another time a Javelina. Black bear incident was the last time in the woods unarmed. Can't for the life of me think of why I didn't carry before that. |

Standing up against the pine tree in a ladder stand in East Texas just before daylight, just as you can start to see shapes in the darkness but not enough light yet to see colors, I saw something flying right at my face... Ducked my head as the flying squirrel bounced off the top of my head and hit the tree behind me. He climbed up a bit higher and then sailed over my head and down to the ground. I had scratches on the top of my head from his claws... |
