I used to be on top of the game checking swires app daily and I was able to buy a good amount. I recently moved and been busy with work so haven't kept track of it lately. |

I have seen pallets of it at local store grand openings. Harder to find otherwise.
|
|
[#5]
Locally here it is very scarce. I have found some online time to time for a decent price, but otherwise yes, it is still here.
|
|
[#6]
Nope. But there's one helluva reasonably priced 22LR shortage!
|
|
[#7]
If you can't easily find (as in not watching gunbot or wiki arms all day ready to pounce) non-Colibri 22lr for less than 10 cpr online, then yes, demand is higher than supply.

Just saw 3 diff types of 22lr at my local wallmart. CCI Blacl 100 rnd Remington 225, and American Eagle

Then you pay 7-10 bucks for 50 rounds. Not interested. I will just sit on my 5000 rounds I have now. This whole thing is disgusting and we shouldn't have to put up with it but we do. Patrick |

The neckbeards around here are stalking the ammo counters, but this time not to buy but to SELL...
I was at the ammo counter a few weeks ago, just getting oil for the car. I walked passed by the ammo display and was looking through the glass with no clerk in sight when a grungy looking fuqqer approached me and asked if I was looking for any .22LR. I told him I didn't see any in the display and he said he had 32k rounds in his pickup if I wanted to follow him to the parking lot. $50 for 500/ct box. About that time the old lady who works the sporting goods department walked up and he was already starting to walk away when she yelled, "GET OUT OF MY STORE! I'M CALLING THE POLICE! She said that the ammo hoarders were getting desperate because no one was buying from them on Craigslist anymore and they couldn't eat what they'd hoarded. |
|
[#15]
The WalMart up here apparently still sells out as soon as they get it. Neckbeards have it staked out hard.
|
|
[#16]
Yes, but not as bad.
I assume the profit margin is not very high for .22 so there is little advantage to ramp up production. |
|
[#18]
Haven't seen ANY here since SH...I check EVERY time I go there---NONE.
Heard a rumor that at this chain hardware store (Midwest) they get it in and call their buddies to nab it all before they even put it out. |
|
[#20]
I am sitting on the stuff I bought years back ( and shooting what I want)
I expect to start hearing stories of garage walls blowing out when neckbeard storage racks fail |
|
[#22]
Haven't seen any in walmart since sandy hook. One lgs has it for $6.99/50, the range puts out one brick (500rds) at a time for $65, Gander Mountain seems like they get it in once a month lately, limit to one box per person per day, all the bricks have been sold out before I make it in, but I've gotten two 325 round boxes at $20 a piece.
Me and my friends are supposed to go squirrel hunting this year (first time hunting for all of us), I've got about 1500 rounds of 22, and neither of them have any. |

I was in a shop the other day and they said they had a shit ton that morning but it flew out of there quickly, I was in there to buy my Daughter a Ruger MKlll handgun and he said they had put some back to offer to customers who bought 22 firearms.

[#27]
Have had 0 issues and always fairly easy to get when I want it in reason
|
|
[#29]
It is all over the place here. Mostly 50 round boxes though. I will consider the shortage over when you can go to town and come back with as many bricks as you want again.

[#30]
I haven't seen a single box of .22 lr on the shelves since Sandy Hook.

yep still been a year since I have seen any. Neckbeards are still in full Derp....

I have about 5000 rounds of .22 LR....
That's enough to get me by for a while. I picked up 10 boxes a couple months ago at Dicks Sporting Goods and they still had a limit of 10 boxes per person. This is in South Jersey. |
|
[#35]
I bought a .22 lever action at Academy earlier in the week.
They opened the safe and and offered me .22lr ammo since I bought the rifle. I had the choice between one of those buckets of Remington .22 (1400 rounds) for $65 or Winchester box of 333 rds for $17 Took the $17 box as I already have 3 of those buckets.

Havent seen .22 at my local WM in a long time. Plenty of overpriced .223 and 9mm though.
|
|
[#41]
No, I can get online and order as much as I can afford.
It may not be as easily available on store shelves or as low as we like but its out there. |
|
[#42]
If people would just stop paying the neckbeards money at stupid prices, it would be back in stock at the stores for reasonable prices.
I dumb lucked out, and bought 5K just before the panic. I should have been one of the neckbeards, but that just seems wrong to me. |
|
[#43]
At the local Wally World (Brookfield, MO) they will only sell their .22lr at 7am. They have it in stock (or get some most days), but you can only buy it then.
So, the neckbeards and resellers still line up and buy them out. Meanwhile the rest of us who actually have jobs etc can get bent. Really haven't seen it anywhere else either. Hard to believe that the supply hasn't ramped up to meet demand after all this time. |
|
[#45]
Did anyone ever come up with a conclusive answer to why there was a shortage in the first place?
I'll guess the price more than doubling is because of the shortage.... |
|
[#46]
all ammo is ridiculous right now. .22lr especially so. I think it's just still that people buy it when they see it because they are afraid they won't find it again.....panic still lingering.
I've refused to play that game what so ever. Unless ammo is priced pre-panic, which 5.56 is close enough, I don't buy. I haven't bought .22lr in a long ass time. |
|
[#47]
As long as 22lr cheapo bulk pack is going to go for 9-11 cents a round via re-sell (ie, the only place you can get as much as you want whenever you want)... I'll be buying target grade 22lr and center fire calibers (which have ALL returned to pre-SH).
Brass cased .223 is 30-35 cents a round shipped, steel case is approaching 22-25. Why should I shoot a 22lr ar when .223 is only 2x-3x more? Only makes sense to me when the difference is 5x or more. I would have figured that once the center fire stuff comes down to normal prices that 22lr would have to follow because of this... But apparently Im wrong or we are on the verge of breaking the neckbeard flu. |
|
[#49]
The problem is created by the stupid merchants like walmart, etc.
They are not willing to raise the price to market, so they encourage neck beards and hoarders. I've seen it enough on this site, "I saw some .22lr, I bought it all!!!"
|
|
[#50]
In the last week between Wally World and Academy I bought 3500 rounds of .22lr without trying too hard. And could have bought a shit pile more if I wanted.
