Jack Bruce, bassist from 1960s band Cream, has died aged 71, his publicist confirms.
Legendary supergroup Cream, which also included Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker, are now considered one of the most important bands in rock history. They sold 35 million albums in just over two years and were given the first ever platinum disc for Wheels of Fire. Bruce wrote and sang most of the songs, including "I Feel Free" and "Sunshine Of Your Love". View Quote http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-29772926 |

RIP. The man had a great singing voice as well as being an amazing bassist.

I prayed they would at least do some mini tour after the reunion shows.

I'm very sorry to hear that. He was a great musician and vocalist as mentioned above.
Cream was a groundbreaking band, just terrific. RIP Jack. |

He was actually an incredible guy. I remember hearing a piece about him on NPR. I will look for it.
No wait, I was thinking about the drummer Ginger Baker. |

I'm currently watching the concert in my OP and would recommend you all watch it some time

Probably the second best bassist to come out of that era, John Entwhistle being the first. Still enjoy their stuff. R.I.P. Jack Bruce.

I admire the talent it took to make Cream's music but have always hated the music. RIP, Mr. Bruce.

Such a supremely talented bassist, and even putting that aside (which is impossible), also a good enough voice to be a lead singer in just about any rock band anywhere. A great loss. So glad Clapton got everybody together one more time, mended fences, made some dough, and let Jack and Ginger see how many of us still appreciated their ground-breaking music. |

RIP
They put out some great stuff that will stand the test of time. |

The only thing that keeps going through my head is, "Everyone I thought was cool is six feet underground."
And he is dead, too. |

Known as a vocalist and bass guitarist, Bruce was also a songwriter, Bruce was trained as a classical cellist, and he considered himself a jazz musician, although much of his catalogue of compositions and recordings tended toward blues and rock and roll.

He will not be forgotten anytime soon. A true legend!
